Newborn to grocery store?

When did you take your newborn to the grocery store for the first time?  We've taken DD out to some, not so crowded places, but I still feel a little uneasy about going out just anywhere.

What did you do?

  • 2 weeks maybe? As long as people aren't hovering over her or breathing in her face, she should be fine.

  • So I need to relax.

So far, we really haven't had to get too much at the store because we've been blessed and my mom and MIL each stayed with us for a week so they took care of food for us.

  • About a week and a half. I put DS in the stroller and we were off. He slept the whole time, but I kind of felt like a crook. I kept putting groceries in the bottom of the stroller to make it easy on us. I checked everything out, but I was worried someone was watching thinking I was going to steal.

LOL I know what you mean. I was at a department store and piling clothes on the stroller. A lady who worked there kept eyeing me.. it was kinda funny. Its just so convenient to have the stroller right there to help carry things :)

  • Three days old.  He slept in his carseat in the cart the whole time, I don't see the huge deal.  I think I'd be more concerned when he is an age where he can actually touch the cart.

  • I think 3 days...
  • I cant stand sitting in the house. SO I have been taking DS on errands since about a week. He was in the hospital at 4 days so I figure it cant get worse than that. Plus I just cant stand sitting in my house. I wear him when we are out so people cant get in his face.

Same for us also. Within a week but covered with a blanket except for a little peep area for me. DD slept the whole time...Even with the blanket some ladies tried to lift it while I was facing the shelves! Really people? As if the blanket wasn't a big enough "No touchie" sign...
