I am going in on Sunday to be induced and am only a fingertip dilated. I am afraid its going to turn into a 3 day affair or c/s. Any positive stories out there for inductions that started with minimal to no dilation

Re: How was your induction if you were barely dilated?
I know this isn't what you asked for but I was only a finger tip, was induced and after 26 hours, ended in C-Section.
Go for the C! Recovery was a piece of cake and baby is healthy and wonderful!
forgot to put that part...
We are starting with foley Sunday afternoon and starting the Pit Monday morning
Shortly after she put the foley in I started having mild contractions. She let me go home and have dinner and I went back at 9. The nurse gave me a sleeping pill and that was great because I got a good night sleep. At 9:30 in the morning the contractions got bad and I got an EPI and was good. My doc was wonderful and I credit her with me not having to have a C. She watched the baby closly just to make sure she was not in destress at all. GL
I was 9 days past due. I went in on Saturday to start induction with Cervidil, then the plan was start Pitocin on Sunday morning.
Within an hour or so of Cervidil, I was having regular contractions. In a couple of hours I was 2-3, then quickly 4. Got the epidural and my blood pressure crashed as well as baby's heart rate. Backed way off epi so I pretty much felt everything at that point. Once I stabilized I got more epi, and was then at 10cm. Pushed for 30min but baby wasn't tolerating it so they used a vacuum. I pushed her out on my last contraction they allowed me before we went to c-section.
12 hour labor and a 3rd degree tear. Over all though, it wasn't awful.
Good luck!

This exactly! I was induced at 38wks because of a high leak in my water. I was still at 1-2 cm 6 hours after they started the pitocin. I asked for the Stadol so I could sleep. At midnight (6 hours later) I was 3 cm and I was in a lot of pain so I received the epidural. I finally delivered vaginally at 10:30am.
Exactly the same with me!
with my first daughter, I was a fingertip dilated.
cervidil at 7pm, they had to pull it out a few hours later because I was contracting like crazy, I had her at 3:21 the next morning. They said that was pretty opposite of "text book" but you wanted hope! :-) it could be THAT quick!
i was 2/3 cm dilated and 75% effaced....and it was a 5 hour labor with 17 mins of pushing...i had a great experience...we had the pitocin drip at 12 for a good while....bumped it up after a few hours, then all the way to 36 (max) which got me to 10! ....
i'd recommend if you were at least 2cm....
if not...i'd wait it out just a little bit!
I went in 1 1/2 cm.
Balloon induction started at 6 pm.
Dilated to a 4-5 by 4am.
Pitocin started at 6am.
10 cm at 5:00pm
Pushed through 4 contractions (15 minutes) and had our daughter at 5:39pm.
I had an amazing induction!!!!! There is hope for you
When I had my DD I was only a finger tip dilated broke my water started the pitocin and I had a vaginal delivery the whole process was 12 hours then this time around I was induced again but at a 3 and had a vaginal delivery in 5 1/2 hours.
Good luck hope you have a fabulous induction.

i was 1cm and 60% effaced. Induced at 40wk 2 days. I was having light contractions bout 8 min apart.
started pit at 8am, they broke my water at 1pm, epi at 3pm. 10 cm dilated at 6pm, labored him down till about 7:30, delivered at 8:26, but they made me stop pushing and wait for the ob for about 30 min (ouch) had a 2nd degree irregular tear. (ds was 9lbs 6oz)
Not to bad over all, but Pit doesn't make it easy...
My situation sounds a lot like yours--I had to go in Sun. night to get a pill inserted to help dilate me (inserted vaginally). After 2 doses of the pill, my cervix still didn't change much so Pitocin was started Mon. morning at 5 am. I had a painful labor and didn't get an epidural soon enough (not my choice), but by 6 pm that night after only 45 min. of pushing, I had my daughter!
Best of luck. Don't take to heart every horror story you hear about being induced. I did beforehand, and things were fine.
