F/U to my UTI....? about Meds

So the doctor prescribed me the antibiotic Bactrum and Pyredium (sp?) for the pain.

I am looking at the bottle for the antibiotic, and it says "Check with your Doctor if you plan to become pregnant while using this medicine".  Uhhh...   Confused

When I was at the ER yesterday, I specifically told the Medical Student, Doctor, AND Nurse that I was actively trying to get pregnant so please make sure whatever drugs they gave me were safe.  Hmm

I do plan on calling the Pharmacist as soon as I am able.  Just can't right at this moment because I don't want any co-workers to hear.  I will call on my lunch break.

Does anybody know if these 2 drugs are safe for me to be taking while I'm in the 2WW?  I know a lot of ladies around here have had UTIs before so curious what drugs you've been given to remedy it.

EDIT:  Sorry Ladies I was lurking here, but meant to post this on TTGP.  Guess I'm still out of it.  Embarrassed

    safefetus.com is a good website that shows the category of medication during pregnancy.  It looks like bactrim is a category C.

    I am on nitrofurnatoin. I think it says to check with your Dr if you are pg on every drug label. My ob is the one that prescribed mine. I would def. call the pharamacy though to double check. I was not given anything for pain, as soon as I took the antibiotic I was pain free.

    Yes I know...that would be wonderful!  I think I am hoping for it this cycle more then ever before!  LOL

    I am going to just try to remain positive and optimistic until I have a reason to not be.

    Awww..that does give me the warm and fuzzies though!  ::hugs::  Sadly, it is not the case.  I am being hopeful that it will be soon though.  :-)

    i was told by a dr at work that for a uti in pregnancy you need augmentin not bactrim

    (bactrim is what is normally prescribed for UTI if you arent pg though)

    Bactrim is category C and should not be used in pregnancy or if a woman thinks she might be pregnant because it is a folic acid antagonist.

    Other drugs used to treat UTI's in pregnant woman include: Nitrofurantoin, Ampicillin, Amoxicillin, Augmentin and 1st generation Cephalosporins (i.e. keflex/cephalexin). All of these medications are Class B.

    Pyridium is class B as well. So it's safe to take. If you have pain take it, otherwise you really don't need it.
