I keep going back and forth on this the more I read...I am going to get another book today that my pedi recommened to see if it gives me peace about one or the other. [Poll]
We did a regular schedule. I generally think the doctors know better than I do and if they recommend the regular schedule, so I trust their judgment. I would hate it if a client of mine spent all their time on the internet finding articles to question my judgment as a lawyer.
ETA: Plus, with my work schedule, it owuldn't have been practical to take him to the doctor for shots once a month....not to mention he was always there anyways with a ton of sicknesses throughout his first yr. I'd have been there twice a month at least!
we are alternative/delayed. I did a ton of research and just wasn't comfortable... I was shocked to see how many things they wanted to vaccinate my child for and what they contained. We've never had a reaction from shots and I feel at peace with our decision... by 2 years Luca was all caught up except 1 that we aren't going to do ...

Just curious - which one are you opting out of entirely?
None of my siblings had issues with vaccinations. There are five of us and we span 1962-1980. That's a pretty nice personal-genetics test group.I added that to what I read about vaccinations, and determined that we likely had little to fear from the standard schedule. We talked openly to our doctor on the subject and listened to her opinions and her learning.
We took the approach that if some unexpected problems presented themselves, we could address them. We reasoned that we did not need to combat a problem that we did not have or did not have any reason to really expect to encounter.
Our first son had no issues aside from the normal post-shot blahs which required Tylenol and a little patience. (Our kids have this second crying jag about two-four hours after shots that was alarming to our first-time-parent sensibilities.)
Our second has done well, too. He had the same crying reaction, as expected. It is easier to cope the second time, because you know.
I did delayed for the same reasons as BPaullo, but just food for thought about the doctors knowing better than we do-I don't disagree that doctors obviously have more medical knowledge than someone not in the profession, but not to consider that many doctors are courted and swayed by the pharmaceutical industry would be naive. I experienced this first-hand when my former OB gave me a bunch of pre-natal vitamin samples and insisted i needed a prescription one to get DHA. Some of the samples that she gave me did not even contain DHA! Nice.

We are going to do this. But I will eventually give the chicken pox (still doing my homework on all of this). I talked with the Dr and we are on the same page. She has personal friends that have done delay, with all different kinds of schedules. She actually has a schedule that she recommends for me, and looking at it, I am very comfortable with it. I wont be at the dr every month, but will go more than usual. I think it will be best for our LO.
We do almost everything on time, but there are a few that we don't get together, even though they are recommended to be given at the same time. I use the advice of a family friend/pediatrician (who is in no way financially impacted by what we do with the vaccines). He tells me which ones he would put off a month and do separately.

We spaced things out but kept them pretty much the same timing wise. We didn't do the hep b vax in the hospital and instead waited to start until her 2 month check up. We split up all the combo vaccines and went monthly for shots but only saw the dr. every other month. I just liked the idea of not getting so many at once.
I know the books list chicken pox (varicella) and MMR at 12 months, but we didn't do them then. I'm still deciding on chicken pox.

Gotcha - thanks!

Good luck with your decision.
