Would you bring your baby to a bar?

Just curious...

It has never even crossed my mind to bring DD to a bar in the evening. She's been in the bar part of a bar/restaurant while we were waiting for a table.

The link is the 2nd page of the post, but the reply at the top is the start of the discussion on babies in bars.

Re: Would you bring your baby to a bar?

  • We don't frequent bars very often and when we do there is usually a restaurant attached to it. Like you, P has been in a bar waiting to be seated at a restaurant table (and that was in Florida, where there is a smoking ban).

I can't wait for the smoking ban here in Michigan. Not much longer (May 1st for us). Yeah!

  • Loading the player...
  • Considering I like to get slobbering drunk and act inappropriate at the bar I would not.....I like to drink during "me" time, not with my kids around and I would have no desire to sit in a bar sober, that is boring. Big Smile

this is in jest.............kind of *wink*

  • Non-smoking pub?  Yes, and have done so plenty of times.  NYC- the number and kinds of "places to meet up" with friends are limited, if you didn't meet in a pub, there are few alternatives.

    Thumping night club?, eeer, no.

  • We've taken DD to the bar portion of restaurants (meeting up with friends) or to sports bars (to watch baseball games) often.

    All our bars are smoke-free.

  • If it was a baby up to about 5 mos, yes.  My friend did this (I've never done it myself) but it makes sense. Her and her DH used to go across the street (they live in downtown Chicago) to their favorite pub for happy hour. They knew everyone there, and the baby was mostly sleeping anyhow.

Now, once the baby is more awake, no, I would not.

  • No.  People go there to have time with other adults and they should be able to.
  • Kids aren't allowed in bars here in ND - not even a resturant bar.
  • Yes.  Lots of times.  I took DS with me everywhere for 9 months, never left him really.  Most bars here, except a few, are non-smoking.
  • Dude, I consider myself WT and *I* wouldn't even bring my kid in to a bar.  An establishment that serves food and booze is NOT a bar....it's a restaurant.  A place that serves ONLY booze --- that's a bar and no place for a baby.  Actually, doesn't matter here since in CT, you aren't allowed if you are under 21.  Period.
  • Yes, when DS was very young.  But I'm an old lady (35) - a couple of beers is about the exent of it.  And our bars are n/s.
