How far do you travel for treatment?

When I moved here 18 months ago, I was unaware that the closest infertility place was an hour from my home.  Three hospitals within a 20 mile radius......but no doctors who treat infertility.  How is that even possible? DH and I are trying to figure out how we are going to make baby #3 work given his travel with work and then trying to find someone to watch our kids for multiple appointments a week.

So, how normal is this??  How far are you from your specialist?

Re: How far do you travel for treatment?

  • Ours is n the same City, maybe less then 3 miles?

When we started looking at IF treatments for DD the closest was 2-2.5 hours away (depending on traffic) we said no

  • I travel about 20-30 minutes to the hospital I had DD at. The RE has a satellite office in the hospital that he's at once a week, but has a nursing team there full time.

ETA: is the closest hospital with a specialist Providence? You *maybe* able to see the dr themselves in Providence, but have testing, b/w & u/s done closer to home.  I've met with RE in person twice. I deal with the nursing team for just about everything except for planning protocols and the initial visit.

  • Ours is 20 miles away.  There are a bunch of other REs closer, but this is the one my OB recommended.

  • Totally coincidentally, we live 3-4 minutes from my RE, 10 minutes in traffic.  My next choice RE would be about 40 minutes away in no traffic.

  • We travel 45minutes-1 hour to get to our infertility dr. There are three RE's that are closer (25 min away) but I chose this one for now.
  • We are about 20 min away from my RE, there are a couple other offices all within a half hour of us too. It's RE central around here.

  • There isn't a single male infertility specialist in the state of NH.  My DH travels down to the Boston area for his appts.  It stinks and it makes it harder for me to persuade him to go.

  • We travel about 15-20 ,minutes
  • RE is 90 minutes away.  It is hard because of trying to schedule around work schedule and cycle.  It takes a whole morning or whole afternoon for appointment travel.

  • We're really fortunate to live really close to an amazing RE clinic.  (2 actually.)  Sorry you're not close to any :(
  • Ours is on the other side of Pgh, so a little over a half hour from where we live.

  • The closest RE to us is about 2 - 2.5 hours away.  Not ideal, but it worked just fine for us.  Thankfully I have a somewhat flexible work schedule.  Good Luck!
