OB/GYN Recs around Woodbury or Saint Paul

I just found out that my OB/GYN that I normally see has left the practice and I need to make an appointment.
I'm now on CD40 now with no O and no AF yet and it's getting close to when I need a yearly exam, so I figured there is no better time than the present to find a new doctor. I am pretty sure we're going to end up at an RE as well for MFI and whatever is going on with me now, so it would be nice if the new doctor has a good relationship with an RE.
Any recommendations?

Re: OB/GYN Recs around Woodbury or Saint Paul

  • OK, I didn't understand all the acronyms, but I have a couple of recommendations.

With my 1st and for my regular check-ups, HealthEast Woodbury Clininc CNMs.  The are all great.  When you are pregnant you see them on a rotational basis, but for exams you can stick with one if you prefer.  A CNM that I really liked and who was around for my labor has left since I went there last year (Melissa Hassler), but I do like Carrie J Frantzich, CNM who has been there a while.  I had a C-section so I can't deliver #2 with them.

However, I will also rave about Dr. Jory Burroughs at Comprehensive Healthcare for Women in Woodbury!  He delivered my DS and is now my OBGYN for #2.  He is incredible, very compassionate and caring.  Totally put me at ease with the c-section and recovery, and I've had a great experience so far with #2 and planning a VBAC.  He's very straight-forward, tell's you like it is, and will listen to your questions/concerns.

    Hope this helps a little.

  • Dr Sam Arnold at Comprehensive Healthcare for Women in Woodbury is a very compassionate and caring Ob/Gyn. While he didn't do my delivery, he helped me out with some infertility issues and had plenty of time to answer all of my many questions.

One of my girlfriends had Dr Toppin from Adefris & Toppin Women's Specialists deliver both her babies at Woodwinds and really liked her.

  • From my experience most REs just hand you off to whomever you want. It doesn't really matter who you go afterwards, depending on the outcome. If it's a Singleton you could see any Dr. if it's multiples you'd probably end up with a high risk doctor. But typically you stay with your RE until you are 6-10 weeks.
  • I see Dr. Grande at Metro OBGYN (www.metro-obgyn.com).  They have offices in St. Paul, Lake Elmo, and Maplewood.  I love him, though he's very busy and the waiting room time for an afternoon visit can be loooong.  He's the one who helped me with my anovulation issues (I was having 70-145 day cycles), did all the testing (b/w, u/s, HSG, SA for dh), and helped us get pg with three rounds of Clomid.  I dealt with his nurse, Holli, for most of that and she is fantastic about answering questions and returning phone calls.  GL!
  • I went to Dr. Toppin with my pregnancy (Adefris and Toppin Women's specialists)  There are 4 obgyns in the practice now.  Dr. Andreson delivered my baby.  I really like all of them.  And what I REALLY liked about the clinic, is they have a 3D ultrasound machine, so when you have your 20 week u/s it is 3D :)  (And all other ultrasounds too, I had 4 at the end because of high BP so I have a bunch of cute 3D pictures of of my baby :)
  • I went to David Baram (OB/GYN) at WBY Health Partners.  He was AWESOME for my PG...  He was there for the first 24 hours of my L&D too at Regions.  He was super supportive and great because he hasn't lost his hearing ;o)  OTOH, he makes it clear that he's not GP, so that's something to think about...

I've also seen Dr. John Simon there.  He's hit or miss it seems, he's general prac with ped' and I know they deliver at Regions too.  OTOH, he may be hit or miss, but he's more hits than a couple of the other MD's I've seen there for Urgent care and such...  He's also who DH goes to..

  • Health Partners Health Center for Women is good.  The CNM are good, and also the MD is good as well.  It is in St. Paul on University Avenue by 280. (94 West, then 280).
  • Dr. Annette Mies with Metro OB/GYN.  I had a loss at 32 weeks with my first pregnancy and had to switch doctors.  A friend recommended her to me.  She is great.  I know she sees patients at the Lake Elmo office (High Pointe Health Campus, near Tamarack/94) and in Apple Valley (where I go).
  • I go to Adrefris & Toppin in Woodbury and am very happy.  My main doctor in Dr. Andreson.
