3rd Trimester

Stretch mark product?

I am going to be 12 wks tomorrow and this is my second pregnancy.  With the 1st I only had stretch marks on BB and used cocoa butter the last one.  My cousin told me that w/ her second she had stretch marks on her stomach since she grew faster.  I was wondering if anyone has any good products that they would recommend? TIA and sorry for popping in to third tri when I'm only in my 1st tri.  Hope all of you are feeling good.

Re: Stretch mark product?

  • Just pray for good genes.  I have used every stretch mark product that they make 2-3 times a day and I still have them.  Good luck.

  • I've been using Palmer's Cocoa butter stretch mark lotion, but I can't tell if it's actually helping. I saw a commerical for a new Mederma product I'm thinking of trying because their scar treatment worked very well for me.

  • I dont have any stretch marks (yet!) and use the Palmer's Cocoa Butter. However, stretch marks are genetic so there really isnt a whole lot you can do to prevent them! My mom didnt have any stretch marks, but she also used cocoa butter, so in my case, maybe it is a combination of the 2! Who knows!

  • i have been using palmers stretch mark massage lotion every day since i found out i was pregnant. however, i have never had a stretch mark in my life and they don't run in my family at all (my mom had three big babies and no stretchies). the lotion is more so that i don't get itchy.

you more at the mercy of your genes than anything, but the lotions can't hurt. :) gl!

  • I have been using:

    Mambino Organic Body Butter

I don't know if it is helping or not... but I like to think it is :)

  • I love the mamma mio products. I use the stretch mark oil 2x a day and the shea butter cream at night. No stretch marks yet
  • Stretch mark creams don't do a thing: they just keep your skin moisturized, as would any other lotion. Your use of cocoa butter had nothing to do with your limited stretch marks. If stretch mark potions were as highly advanced in the ways of skin care as they claim to be: no doubt they would be incorporated into all different areas of dermatology.
  • Stretch marks are genetic.  I think the lotions just help with the itching. I've been using The Body Shop Shea butter body lotion and it just feels really good. Good luck!

This exactly.  I somehow developed an allergy during this PG to cocoa butter, so couldn't use Palmer's at all.  No stretch marks yet, though ditto what others have said - it's primarily genetic.  My mom didn't get any, and I'm REALLY hoping I don't get them either.

  • Good genetics is the only way I know to prevent stretch marks. Sorry!
