Any of you new mom's have a baby that was head down but sunnyside up at delivery?? What happend? I went to L&D to be monitored yesturday and they said I was 2-3cm dialated he wasn't breeched just sunnyside up. I'm 37 weeks today so i'm hoping he turns on his own before then but am currious as to what will happen if he doesn't.
Thanks!
Re: Question about Delivery
I was in labor for 27 hours before they decided we needed to do an emergency c-section. I could not progress past 7 cm. Dr. figured she was sunnyside up and would not fit through my pelvis (I am very short and they thought this was a possibility from the beginning). Sure enought when they cut open they saw her nose and lips first!.
Hopefully your LO turns before! Good Luck!
In the meantime, I'd be doing everything possible to try to get that baby facing the rear. No slouching or reclining on the couch. Sit up straight. Lots of time on an exercise ball. Some time on all fours.

My DS was sunnyside up and looking over his shoulder. This was 15 years ago. We didn't know he was sunnyside up until he was crowning. I was induced. I progressed quickly enough. Started pitocin and broke my water at 6:00 am and I was pushing by 2:00pm.
The worst part about it was I pushed for over 4 hours. he was crowning for a lot of that time. He just couldn't make it over my pubic bone. My OB finally used the vacuum to keep him from going back up after a contraction. He was finally born with a horribly bruised head and neck. His entire forehead was cut and bruised and the back of his head was purple from hitting my pubic bone for hours. He had to go to the nursery for monitoring.
But everything was fine after that. I tore down to my rectum which was not fun to recover from.
I suggest getting the epi when you can. I had planned to go med-free and did for 6 hours, but it was horrible. When my OB realized he was sunnyside up she was surprised I lasted that long. The back labor was brutal.
