I just got a call from the hospital I delievered at that stated I had an outstanding bill of $250 from Jan!! First of all I never recieved a bill for $250, second I have an out of pocket yearly max of $450 of which I have already paid out over $300 since Jan 1st. So there is no way I can owe more than $150! On top of that, I don't know what those charges are even for and they want me to agree to pay in full over the phone without seeing the bill! H?ll no!!! So he then proceeds to tell me if I have a pen close by he'll go over the charges with me over the phone! Finally I said look i've got a newborn attached to my boob so let's get this straight.. You send me the statement breaking the bill down, then I'll contact my insurance company, then I'll call you back to handle this situation but I will not pay anything I haven't seen a paperbill for and contacts my insurance over!!

Re: Stupid hospital billing--vent
Maybe they submitted it to your insurance back in jan, before any of the out of pocket showed up on their (the insurance company) end. So they sent it back to the hospital saying you had to pay the $250, but before the hospital got around to contacting you some of that out of pocket has since been paid. Still wouldn't explain you not getting the bill. But I process insurance claims, and I know we're running about a month behind right now. So even if the hospital submitted it asap, they may have just recently got it back. kwim?
ETA: I do agree I wouldn't pay it over the phone! Just maybe an explaination to the whole out of pocket part...
