HCG levels and follow-up appt

Hi Ladies!  Today I went in for my second round of bloodwork for HCG levels.  The lab tech said she didn't have doctor's orders for me so she called over to my doctor's office and the nurse said to put in orders.  It has me wondering...how long does it normally take for the levels to go down?  I'm assuming it's different for everyone but just wondering what your experiences have been.  Also, I have my follow-up appt today and I'm nervous about it.  I couldn't sleep last night.  Any questions you can think of that I should ask?  Thanks!

My levels were down to 0 about 2 weeks after my natural m/c. Of course they were already pretty low when the missed miscarriage was discovered:

    9/8 - 877
    9/11 - 230
    9/18 - 0

I saw a physician assistant for my follow-up appointment and she was wonderful. My biggest questions were about what they would do differently next time, what I could do (if anything) to keep the next pregnancy sticky and when we could start TTC again. I couldn't really think of anything else important to ask.

Good luck at your appointment. (((hugs)))

I am almost 3 weeks post D&C and I can still get a postive on a HPT.  I called my doctor and he said that they should be around <5 sometime soon, but that they were really high before the miscarriage (I was almost 14 weeks).  He didn't do draws, but he suspects that they are still around 600 right now.

First of all, I'm so sorry for your loss.  Here is some info:

According to the American Pregnancy Association it can take 4-6 weeks for HCG to reach "zero".  I m/c on 8-19-08, my levels were almost 44,000 when I m/c naturally and finally last week they were "negative".  So it took me over a month.  And I just got my first period on Sunday.

    Heres a breakdown:

    pre-m/c:  43,900
    week 1:  817
    week 2:  83
    week 3:  16.8
    week 4:  5.6
    week 5: "negative"
    week 6: AF arrives

    Hang in there sweetie!

good question!  I had a d&c on 9/16 and I was about 9,000 then.  I was checked last Friday and they were 24.4.  I have one more draw in about 2 weeks.... hoping they are 0 then!!

    good luck.

Not to scare you or anything, but it took 9 weeks for my levels to get to 2.5.  They were decreasing every week, just very slowly.  As long as they are going down there is no need to worry or medically intervene.  My doc wanted to give me a methotrexate shot, which means that you have to wait 3  months before trying again (so that it is out of your system).  I declined the shot, thank goodness.

Anyway, I hope that your levels drop quickly.
