And how would you describe it? I'm new - going to the doc's this Monday but pretty much convinced Dh and I that I have PPD or the like and need some type of help. I describe myself as having bad PMS-like symptoms - bad mood swings, anxiety, etc., and then it goes away and I'm fine - which makes it hard to convince myself that I'm still not ok, kwim?
Do you feel different every day or is it just a general sense of not having had an episode or bad day as often?
Re: When did you start to feel "better"?
After I started Lexapro, I would say within a week I was feeling better - not 100%, but better. As the days went on things seemed to fall into place for me. I weaned off when ds was about 3 months (right before I went back to work) and haven't looked back. I'm at a point now where my good days outnumber the bad by a long shot!
Don't be discouraged - we all have bad days, but hopefully soon you'll notice the good ones becoming more frequent!
Ditto the roller coaster phenomenon. I had (and still have) good days and bad. My symptoms are more in the easily frustrated, short-fused, and take-everything-too-personally category than sadness or anxiety, though - I don't know if that's a manifestation of severity or just random info, lol. Anyway, I decided to call the OB when I realized I was having more bad days than good.
I've been on Zoloft now for almost 2 weeks. DH noticed a turn-around in my mood after about 5 or 6 days. I really noticed it about 7 or 8 days out.
Good luck.
