When did you put LO in crib?

Just wondering when some of you made that transition?

Re: When did you put LO in crib?

  • There was just a post on this the other day, but who knows how far back it is :)

I transitioned her from the pnp in our room to the crib in her room at 6 weeks 2 days.

  • LO has been in her crib in her own room since we came home from the birth centre.

I didn't see the point of the extra expense for a bassinette and its bedding as we didn't plan to have her in our room.

If your saw our house layout however, her being in her own room, is no different than being in a bassinette in a large master bedroom, she's so close that with both doors open I can hear every snuffle.

Having said that I still found it challenging having her "that far away" after having had her right next to my bed at the birth centre.

  • DD has been using her crib ever since we came home from the hospital.

  • DS wouldnt sleep in his crib at first...so he slept in his bouncy chair (the only place he would sleep) for maybe 2 weeks...and he has been in his crib ever since.
  • My DD was in her crib from day 1. My DS will be in a crib as soon as we move out of our condo and get my DD a bed, so he can have the crib.

  • He won't start sleeping there until 12 weeks.

I transitioned her from the pnp in our room to the crib in her room at 6 weeks 2 days.

It was yesterday, I posted it and it inspired me to try the crib tonight/last night.  I guess it is still night here on the west coast.  DS slept his normal 4 hour stretch, then woke up pooping at 4 and here I am now running back and forth putting the paci in his mouth.  I don't see the point of crawling back into bed just yet until I know he's asleep.  I did sleep so much better for the time I have been sleeping and actually feel awake right now.

  • the first few nights she  slept in the pnp next to me in the den.. by 1 week old she was in her crib in her room.  she sleeps just fine and doesn't seem bothered by it. it may be more of when you can handle her not right next to you.  i never got used to it, even in the hospital cause they didn't allow her to stay with me all night due to her having so much amniotic fluid in her lungs

just when you are comfortable and LO will sleep in it..try it at naptime and see how that goes

  • We transitioned at about 3-4 weeks.  But before that she was mostly in my arms because she didn't really sleep much at night (formula issues - long story).

We tried the PNP in our bedroom at first but I didn't like it because I felt like if I moved I might wake her up.  Plus DD is a really noisy sleeper (moving, grunting, waking up/going back to sleep) and it drove me so crazy because I was always awake.  Now that she is in her crib, I turn the monitor down low enough that I don't hear every move, but if she's crying it definitely wakes me up

  • His crib is in our room and I alternate between his swing, crib, and co-sleeper bed. And my bed. LOL. Kid will sleep anywhere!

  • Still haven't lol. I want to move him at about 3 months, or whenever he's sleeping 3 (or more) hour stretches consistently. He still has nights randomly where he wakes up almost every hour and it's much easier to just have him in the bassinet next to me (I'm bf'ing, so I barely have to get out of bed).

  • Started at 4 weeks, first putting him in crib during the day and co-sleeping with us at night.  Then gradually added sleeping periods to the point that now at 7 weeks, he sleeps in his crib all of the time.  However, he did regress a bit this past weekend, but by Tuesday he was back on track.

     Hope this helps!
