Babies on the Brain

s/o of bad names

B and I have a restaurant/bar that we go to regularly.  All the people that work there know us.  One of the bartenders is also pregnant and found out a couple weeks ago she is having a girl.  We went there a few nights ago and she was all excited to tell me her baby girls name.

Tayla Brielle

Indifferent

She was all upset that her mother and sister hate the name and said she couldn't understand why since it was a more feminine version on Taylor.  All I could do was smile and nod.  Smile and nod.

Re: s/o of bad names

  • It sounds like the way someone from Georgia would say Taylor.

  • Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure Tayla is a real name. I know someone with that name and never thought twice about it. It's nms, but neither is Taylor.

Maybe it's a regional thing but non of us (in our group) had ever heard it before.  Sounds totally made up to me.

    Hey now!

j/k.  I know quite a few people that have that bad of a drawl and would pronounce Taylor like Tayla.

  • Oh Taylor definitely sounds like Tayla out of the right mouth around here too, lol.

Possibly it is regional Bev. Or I could be wrong and it isn't a real name, and I just thought it was because this girl was named that.
