Lurker Question

Hi Ladies!

I lurk here all the time, but don't post too often. I just wanted to say I love how educated you all are, and wish nothing but the best for you all.

I'm hoping you can help me with a question. I just got bloodwork results back from my RE - round 1 of clomid did not make me ovulate (50 mg). I've been upped to 100 mg for my next cycle. Has anyone here had a hard time ovulating on clomid? I'm at such a loss... all my hormone levels come back normal, but I seem to have stubborn ovaries :(

TIA

Re: Lurker Question

  • You may just need a higher dose.  For me personally, clomid never made me ovulate.  I tried, 50mg, 100mg and 150mg.  For many clomid was all the needed.  Just try the 100mg and see how it goes.  I know its frustrating and beyond disappointing but hang in there.

  • Can I ask what your doctor prescribed you when clomid didn't work? I'm having such a hard time getting my head around this.

  • Clomid didn't work for me either. I was given 50, 100, and 150mg. I was referred to an RE and he prescribed femara. There are studies that show alot of women who don't respond to clomid, respond to femara.

  • First, I am so sorry for your loss. I couldn't even imagine! Second, I didnt ovulate until 100 mg of Clomid. I would see what happens with the increased dose and then go from there. Best of luck!!

  • If you have only done one round of clomid it doesn't mean you won't O on another round.  I did 4 rounds, and O'd the second and fourth round of clomid.  Just make sure your Dr is monitoring you on clomid, not just checking to see if you O'd.  Good luck and I am so sorry for you loss.

Ditto on this - I did 2 rounds of clomid, 150mg and 200mg.  Zippo response,

Hopefully that won't be the case for you - I know LOTS of Clomid babies!

  • My doctor doesn't monitor me on clomid. I wish he did. I don't know if things are done differently up here in Canada, or what? I will call and ask if that's an option for my next round.

I picked up my clomid and prometrium, so hopefully AF will be here in 10 days or so, and this good times roller coaster will begin again.

Thank you for all your help. Best of luck to you all :)

That is one reason behind monitoring. That way you can determine if/when you ovulate and get your b/w done at 7dpo, no matter what cd that is. For me, normal ovulation day with clomid or femara is cd20, so I go from there.

Other reasons is to check for thickness of lining, OHSS, or even to determine if you need a trigger shot.
