News: Sorry I'm a day late this week!  I worked all day yesterday and today and am just now getting time to sit and post...   Welcome to new members SWMcFarland, Mama2MyBabies, FiremansWife2009baby, and ChristineS0820!

QOTW:  A lighter question this week: Did you have any cravings with your first pregnancy? If so what? If you're pregnant again, are the cravings the same or different?

Updates: Please let us know how you're doing!

Re: Pregnant After Preemie (&TTC) Check in

  • QOTW: during both pregnancies, in the first tri I craved bland foods (think cheerios for dinner) and the rest of the time I need sweets.  When I was pregnant with Campbell it was peanut M&M's and this time it's sugar of all sorts...

Update:We had a growth u/s on Friday and Maggie is looking great. She continues to measure ahead and was 3 lbs, 11 oz.  I imagine sometime this week she'll be double Campbell's birth weight!  The only down side is my bp is rising.  It was 122/86 which is the highest diastolic I've had this pregnancy and that's remained constant for a few days.  I see my OB tomorrow so I'm anxious to see what he says.

  • I had a craving for hot dogs.  I ate more hot dogs while pregnant that I had in my entire life.  I use to HATE THEM, like I'd rather go hungry than eat one.  When I was about two months pregnant, all I wanted were hot dogs.  I loved going to Costco just to get a hot dog.  LOL  I use to work at Hot Dog on a Stick, so I think that might have something to do with it.

I also craved fruit and slurpees/slushes.  I couldn't get enough slushes from Sonic.  I live in Vegas and this was during the summer, so I didn't try to fight that one.  It was so f'ing hot and I had to walk a mile across campus everyday to go to work.. in the sun.  I couldn't have done it without slushes.. LOL

  • I craved carbs...especially grits. I couldn't eat enough grits with butter.

There were some foods that I was completely turned against. I couldn't eat sweets, especially chocolate. It made my stomach turn to even think about it. I also couldn't eat buffalo chicken which I normally love.

Conceived twins with IVF January 2008. Lost baby a at 20 1/2 weeks due to premature rupture of membranes and held onto baby b. Baby b (Brandon) born at 26 weeks and 1 day on July 5, 2008. Wesley born full term on June 29, 2011. My blog http://karenandstu.blogspot.com Lilypie Premature Baby tickers Lilypie Pregnancy tickers image
  • QOTW: during the first trimester, i could only eat poma-mango smoothies from caribou coffee. the rest of the time, i wanted cheetos and kit kats, which i don't normally like. and i swear, i drank my weight in pink lemonade every day. Smile

update (maybe TMI): i ovulated all on my own!!!! that's huge for me considering i have PCOS. we're now in the 2ww. stay tuned!

  • QOTW: I am craving sweets, same thing as last time! Sweet ALL the time. I am eating soooo crappy haha.

Update: It's another BOY! I'm so excited. Yay! First cervical check was good, long and closed. Started p17 suppositories. Also feeling kicking, like, all the time! DH even feels it on the outside! Bad news? I am having contractions. Yesterday was bad, today is better. Hopefully, it was just a bad day.

  • I loved sweets!  I always say that Logan is made up of Skittles and Starbursts!  I also loved kiddie foods, pb&j, spaghetti-os, mac-n-cheese!

Update:  Still not pregnant.  On to cycle 7.  I had extremely heavy bleeding this period and had a hysteroscopy today to check for polyps. All was clear.  If we don't end up pregnant this month I will be getting a hystoblahblahblah (shoot dye into my tubes with xrays).  Yuck.  Fingers crossed it works this month!

  • QOTW:  One of the first give-aways that I was pregnant the first time was that I could not eat enough McNuggets and Buffalo sauce.  I just remember the quantity of food I was eating was over the top, and lots of icecream.  This time, I was more surprised for the nausea that lasted the first trimester, and how the smell of coffee brewing would make me gag.  My appetite is back, but I am doing better this time with watching my weight gain.  I have been loving buttered Ramen noodles, pickles, and any seafood (not at the same time).

Updates: The P17 shots are not as bad, and I feel a little less psycho than I did the first few times I got it.  Big Smile  My quad screen came back with an unexpected increased risk for Down's, so I am really praying that the "big ultrasound" on Monday, 4/5/10, is all good news with all systems and measurements accounted for.  I had my first dream about the sex of the baby, and the dream said boy.  I look like I am smuggling a basketball.

  • QOTW: I knew I was pregnant with Angelina because I could not even look at Chipotle burritos (I LOVE THEM!). All I wanted was rice puffs and soda water. With this baby the only crazy craving I had was canned peaches. I was eating about 3 cans a day for a while. Now my main craving is Chipotle, but that just may be normal.

Updates: My BP is still high and my OB has me taking HBP meds 3 times a day, which keeps it pretty stable. I have also started to swell like crazy, no matter what I eat but since I am not leaking any protein the doctor thinks its just normal pregnancy swelling. The baby was measuring ahead for most of the pregnancy, in the 70th percentile, but he has started to slow down and at my last ultrasound he was measuring in the 30th percentile. The MFM has me coming in once a week now to monitor his growth and if it starts slowing down even more, this boy is coming out! At least I made it to 34 weeks this time!

  • QOTD: I have had cravings for sweets, mainly ice creams and smoothies. yummy........

Update: Well I have made it to almost 39 weeks. OMG I still cant believe it. I am so happy to have made it. I went to the doc last Monday and was already dialated to 4 80% efaced and soft. She has also been able to feel Hailey's head for over a month now. So she is low. We will see how much farther I can go. I am due 4/10/2010

  • QOTW: With Nate I craved pop tarts and funyuns, two things I don't normally like but I could not get enough of them with that pregnancy. this time I crave healthier foods like salads, sandwiches, and sushi, but nothing really specific.

Update: I had an appointment with the doc on Tuesday and all is well. BP is still pretty low, no swelling, and baby is measuring perfect.  I am feeling better now then I did with Nate, but I am still nervous about pre-e showing up. I think I will be until the day I deliver.

  • Update: My chart (link in siggy) did interesting things this morning...I had a spike all the way up to 98.96 degrees. I have never gotten a temp over 98 (I have PCOS and have never ovulated on my own) before, so I'm cautiously hopeful that MAYBE I O'ed on my own. If I did, we had decent timing...I'm just waiting to see what that temp is tomorrow. Also, since the last update, DH decided he wants to go back to the RE sooner than we had previously discussed. The plan right now is to give it 3 months (unless I start ovulating on my own, which would be amazing), and then the next time I'm due to induce AF we'll start our testing with the RE. So that's the end of June! I'm excited, and a little nervous. Like I've said before, right now I'm more focused on the getting pregnant part than the high-risk pregnancy part...

Oh, and I might have to switch OB/GYNs again. I went with this one because they are high risk, have experience with infertility, and deliver close to my home with a good NICU, but so far I haven't been impressed. When I went there for my annual, I had to wait a good 45 min in a crowded waiting room to be seen. Then, when I called to set up a preconception appt, they wouldn't set anything up until they ran my fertility benefits, even though I told them point blank I would not be doing fert treatments with them. But I did discuss getting pg again with the NP at my annual and she didn't seem to think there were any problems with timing or anything like that, and doesn't consider me high-risk, so I'm trying to just be comfortable with that.

QOTD: My favorite meal while pg: steak, baked potato, corn on the cob, milk. Followed with chocolate ice cream cone and lemonade. YUM.

  • QOTW:  With Lily I could have ate salmon everyday, and I practically did. I also really craved sweets, like fruit, especially peaches. And I loved icecream.

This time I am craving all fruits, especially peaches and icecream, but no salmon??

    Updates: I am doing good!

  • QOTW: Last pregnancy it was Carl's Jr. Famous Star with cheese.  This time it's been Taco Bell and sweets.

Update:  I had my 16 week appt late last week.  There was a trace of protein in my urine (which the medical asst. told me I had protein in my urine and my doctor was going to need to talk to me, and of course I panicked) then she took my blood pressure and it was slightly elevated from where it has been  it was 122/80, my doctor isn't worried about it.. but I am.  My quad screen came back normal and my ultrasound is scheduled for April 15.  I'm just hoping we all stay healthy.

  • QOTW: Watermelon and strawberries.

Update:  I'll be 35 weeks tomorrow!  I'm past the point where Katie was born, and I am so excited.  I think I'm actually going to make it to full term this time--which I didn't think was possible.
