Could someone walk me through, step by step, what happens with the milk after you pump it out? You can choose to freeze or refrigerate, right? If you freeze, do you need to thaw it in the fridge overnight before heating it in a warmer or under running water?
You can't possibly dumb this down enough for me, I won't be offended. LOL
TIA!!
Re: Storing & Heating BM
That is correct. Also, it needs be used within 24hrs from the time it is completely thawed.
This is the info the hospital gave me on storing BM:
Fresh BM:
Deep Freezer at 0 degrees or below: 6+ mos
Freezer attached to fridge at 0 degrees: 4-6 mos
Refrigerator at 32-39 degrees: 8 days
Room temp (66-72 degrees): 10 hours
Thawed BM:
You can thaw it in the fridge beforehand, or thaw it slowly in lukewarm water. It should NOT be thawed quickly under warm/hot water. After it is thawed, it can be warmed like you said.Do Not re-freeze!
Refrigerator at 32-39 degrees: 24 hours
Room temp (66-72 degrees): 1 hour
