Is your animal protective of you?

I heard that aniamls (pets) can sense pregnancy often before we know. My sweet pupper probably has no clue, but my cat is constantly sitting on my lap....almost like an incubator Smile Keep in mind that while she was a lap kitten that was YEARS ago.

Anyone else have this going on?

Oh yeah. The below puppy is constantly following me around the apartment, and in fact, generally won't leave my side.

I have two dogs and no, they haven't shown any behavior they "know" yet, however a friend of mine has a dog that did, along with a relative's pet that is not a lap pet at all. I can't remember if she said it was a cat or dog, but this animal was drawn to her and laid in her lap when she was over.

My cat has been laying on my belly, she never used to do this. She would lay next to me, but never on my belly. My dog rests her head now on my belly. I guess they sense something...

My cat has gotten to the point of obnoxious LOL. He'll stand on my pillow at night and literally watch over me. Sometimes he'll squeeze between DH and I so he can sleep next to my stomach.

My boxers are super protective anyway, but I do notice one following me around more often and being more gentle when wanting attention. They are both so sweet, I can't wait to see them around the baby.

My dog follows me everywhere! I cannot pee with out him following me in the bathroom. its really funny.

My cat has been sitting close to me, and she never does that, nor does she go near anyone else. My larger dog tends to lay at my feet more and follow me around. He use to hate going into the basement...now he even follows me down there. I am pretty sure they sense something is up.

My Golden Retriever probably knew something was up with me before I did. She started becoming really clingy around a week before I got my BFP, and hasn't left my side since. She also started sleeping on my side of the bed, which is near the wall/window rather than her usual spot on the rug on the more roomy side by DH.

I think it's adorable

We also have a nine month old Basset Hound, with a walnut sized brain. He hasn't noticed a thing. hahaha

I have a golden retriever, a choc lab and a cat. They have always been clingy to me so I can't say I notice it more. My cat has always laid on my stomach or my chest whenever I was laying on the couch or in bed. But now she keeps getting kicked off because I can't take it on my bloated stomach or my super tender boobs!! Ouuuucccchhhh! So, my cat is getting the shaft----poor thing is so confused!

At 3dpo my 18 year old cat was lying on my belly (odd for her) I am now about 6.5 weeks along and she wants to be near me all the time. I think they sense the hormone change.

My dog has been super clingy for the past month or so. He follows me everywhere, has to be on the couch with me at all times and has been extremely cuddly. He definately knows something is up.

Our pupster (1 & 1/2 year old Golden/Basset/Springer/Lab mix) has not been any different as of yet, but I second who said above about brain size. He thinks shadows are real, for God's sake, so... yeah.

He is still a loveable sweetheart though.

My dogs and cat haven't really been acting much different (my older Basset Hound is always right by my side and that hasn't changed), but my horse is another story! I don't know if it's just a coincidence or if he knows what's going on, but he's been so gentle and he keeps leaning the side of his head into my chest - like he's trying to hug me! It's VERY cute...the vet was out today and said that animals may not actually "know" what's going on, but they do sense the hormone changes. Love it!
