nursing and pregnant again

I have an 8 month old little boy.  I am nursing him and he is also eating solids.  I just found out that I am pregnant again.  I don't know what to do about nursing.  If I should start to ween him or if I should keep nursing until a certain point of my pregnancy.  Help!

Re: nursing and pregnant again

  • You should be able to keep nursing throughout your pregnancy, although the hormones might decrease your milk supply a bit. I would stick with it as long as you feel comfortable with it.

  • DS is 20 months and I am 25 weeks pregnant and he is still nursing a couple times a day (first thing in the morning and once again in the evening).  My doctor was a little bit concerned with it but said as long as I am getting enough calcium and staying VERY well hydrated I shouldn't have any problems (and I haven't).

I will say that nursing through morning sickness did kind of suck a little though...

  • I recently found out I'm pregnant, too, and I'm still nursing my 21 month old DS.  Everything I've read in the past year and a half indicated it was fine to continue nursing throughout your pregnancy.
