NPgALR: Can you teach me how to make steak?

I have 11 steaks I'm making tonight. They're the round ones that are about 1in thick.

We have a charcoal grill with no charcoal so I'm making them inside.

DH and I like them with a little pink. How long and on what heat do I cook it?

  • I go to Outback... or Texas Roadhouse... Or tell DH to do it Stick out tongue I'm thinking those aren't good options for you though.

    How should I bake them?

  • Season with salt and pepper. Then sear them in a very hot pan with a touch of oil, 2 min on each side (don't pull at them - the steaks will release easily when they are ready). then throw them in the oven on 400 for about 6 minutes.

Save the pan drippings - you can make great sauces!!!! Check out the beef tag in my blog, link in siggy.

  • Season with salt and pepper.

    Seer

put in pre-heated oven (375 degrees) for 15-20 minutes

if you want it a little more done (well done), drop heat to 250 and leave in for another 10 or so minutes.

  • The trick it very high heat on the outside for a short amount of time.  I would sear in a pan on very high with butter (rub with salt and pepper first) on both sides until browned the way you like and then finish in the oven - maybe on broil.  Check them frequently in the oven though - they keep cooking even after you take them out so keep that in mind.  GL!
