Child care!
My DH works midnights and will be home all day while I'm at work. I have someone great to babysit full time, but I think I only want to do 3 days a week and leave LO home with DH the other 2 days. The baby of course will be with my DH and I on weekends.
Some people think I should stick with either full time child care or none at all. They think that the bouncing around during the week may not be good for the baby.
I think the baby will be bounced around anyway even if it is full time!
I'm on the fence about this. What are your thoughts, and have any of you 2nd time moms done something similar?
Thanks!
Re: Part time or full time...
Yes, option is there, and waiting for me to give a yay or nay lol.
Sounds like the situation I'm leaning towards; daycare 3x a week and my DH will be with LO the other 2!
What's DH's sleep schedule like? I don't think the shuffling around itself will be a big deal to the LO. But if s/he has to adhere to 2 different sleep/feeding schedules, that may be hard.
It might not be feasable for your DH to be home with the LO when he needs to be resting for the next night's work?
Just a thought! I realize that he probably would TRY to do it! My DH thinks he can work in a garage and still be a SAHD. Uh, I don't think so dear!
He is will be awake during the time LO will be home with him, and we would be awake anyway. We also have it set so that the baby will be home on the 2 days my DH's days off fall on, so he won't have to go into work those nights.
Do you have someone you know very well that could possibly do it?
You made me feel soooo much better! Thanks a lot!
Go for part-time! Last year, DD had every other Monday with DH, Fridays with Grandma/Grandpa, and a nanny on the other days. She had no problems adjusting, if anything it just made her a more flexible kid.
This arrangement led to a really special bond between my parents and her. Plus DH is so much more understanding of what it is to be a parent because he has been more active in the role. As long as it is something your DH wants to do, you won't regret it. GL!
All I can recommend is to be consistent! My DD thrives on consistency. So my suggestion is that if you do part-time, have it be M-T-W, or something like that so that it's 3 days in a row (rather than M-W-F).
As a second time mom, my first concern with your situation is that your husband works nights. When will he sleep? He might prefer to have baby in childcare every morning for a few hours so he can rest . . . .
Just a thought!
