2nd Trimester

Is there anything you thought you'd do?

Before you got pregnant, is there anything you were sure you were going to do during your pregnancy that you have yet to do?

For me, its working out. I swore I would work out through my entire pregnancy because of how healthy it was for the baby and the chance it would make labor easier. To date...I've been once.

You?

Re: Is there anything you thought you'd do?

  • dido. DH and I starting going on walks in the first trimester...that happened like three times. Havent been since!
  • Loading the player...
  • I swore I'd continue horseback riding, however now I only have the rescue horses to ride, and they aren't trusting at all, so I don't want to chance anything!

They are bad enough on the ground, I'm not getting on their backs lol!

  • I went to a nutritionist and got a food plan.  I followed it the first couple months.  Then ALL of the foods on the list started making me sick.  Now I eat whatever my body will tolerate.  I thought I would follow the plan throughout.  But I just couldn't do it.

  • Being vegetarian ... but living in Mexico at first gave me no options to continue ... now I'm used to the meats and veg again ... maybe once LO is here I'll return to my veggie ways.
  • My eating habits. They definitely could be better. They aren't horrible (eating fruit like it is going out of style) but I should probably put down the burgers more. All I want is salty goodness though!

You sound exactly like me. I didn't necessarily have a list of do's and don'ts before pregnancy, but I did plan to exercise a lot more than I do now! Which is hardly ever Embarrassed Come on warm weather! Maybe I'll walk more then.

  • I just had this discussion with DH.  We went to the park and then to Baskin Robbins (the weather is GORGEOUS here), and I got a fat free, sugar free scoop of frozen yogurt in a kid's cone.  As we were eating it, I said, "You know, when I thought about being pregnant, I figured I'd be eating extra large milkshakes--not the same old cone I got before I was pregnant."

    I guess it's really a good thing--but I just figured I'd splurge more than I have.

The dermatologist I used to work for wouldn't do laser treatments on pregnant women.

  • Definitely exercising. I was a gym rat pre-preg. I SWORE I'd keep it up to keep my weight in check and make for an easier labor. Well...I've been slacking big time. I don't know what it is about pregnancy...but the gym is so unappealing to me after working all day. I don't mind going at all on the weekends when I have the whole day to myself...but after a days work the gym is the LAST place I want to be! I'm all about some PJs and tv!
  • Exercise for me too.  I have been to the gym only 2x's, done exer videos 2x's & have walked maybe a dozen times w/ the dogs.  I keep telling myself today I am going to exercise but after working all day I am beat.   Maybe this weekend :)

  • Exercise more.  I am lucky if I get in 2 workouts a week.
  • Definately exercise.  And keep a journal.  I swore since this will be my last, that I would be the good mommy and record the whole thing in words and pictures.  I blogged once, and I have one pic of me so far Sad

Wasn't the OP asking what we swore we'd do BEFORE we got pregnant?  I'll have to re-read.  I wanted to do this pre-pregnancy, but now it's too late!

ETA:  Yep, I read it wrong!  I still wish I'd done it!

  • I thought I would take a picture of myself so I would have comparison bump picture - did not do that at all.
  • I swore I'd do whatever I can to not gain a lot of weight! ha!

I also thought I'd put headphones on my belly and play classical music. I've yet to do that and am not really motivated to do so.

YES! me too.  I have only been once too :(

See I usually don't worry about going to the gym much in the winter because I play lots of volleyball and softball in spring but I clearly can't play spring or summer softball or volleyball now.  And I don't usually go much to the gym during the spring/ summer because I'm so active outside (like every night of the week) but now I'm going to HAVE to hit the gym! or walk around more or something!

ha ha you sound just like me.  This is what I wanted to do but I've been too lazy and don't care much about that anymore :)

  • I always said i would work out. Not once have i done this. I plan on going for more walks when the weather gets better.

I'm the same as you. I assumed a lot would change but not much really has. I thought I'd really cut down on exercise but while I've lowered the intensity considerably I actually spend more time per day exercising now than I did pre-pregnancy because it makes me feel better emotionally and lessens the stiffness in my hips and back.

  • I had this pep talk with myself about eating really healthy, working out etc...

but after 15 weeks of bad m/s, I'm still just happy when I can eat something, anything...and working out has consisted of a few walks with DS in the stroller on a nice day (not bad, and definitely enjoyable).

Maybe now that I'm feeling better I'll concentrate more on eating habits.

  • Take weekly belly pics.  I didn't when I was PG with DD and wish I had, so I swore I'd do the weekly this time around.  I've taken um, two.  Yeah.  That's not working out so well for me.
