mine seid it's fine, I just dont let people I dont know touch her. Also, everyone who does touch her needs to wash their hands. We have been taking her out since the day after I came home from the hospital (malls, restaurants, walks and we are going to the beach next week) it all depends on ur comfort level and ur baby's health i guess.
Didn't ask - just went by my gut. I started taking walks and brief trips out (to run errands) when she was about 1 1/2 weeks old. Obviously, I didn't take her around crowds of people, but I needed to get out even if it was for an hour or so.

I didn't ask. We went out to eat with her on day 4, didn't see the pedi until day 5. I agree that it's fine, just don't let anyone get close or touch them.
Mine said to avoid public places until 6-8 weeks. That's about as conservative as I've heard for a healthy, full-term baby, but we mostly listened (I think I took her to a store in the middle of a weekday for the first time around 4-5 weeks). Her reason was that if the baby gets sick before 2 months, we were going to have to go to the hospital, so she wanted us to do what we could to avoid germs before then.
When I wanted to get out before I was ready to take the baby, DH or my mom went with me and stayed in the car with the baby while I ran my errands, so that's another option.
