A friend of mine had her baby on Wednesday, by c-section. The baby isn't doing that great but is finally making progress towards the better which is good. He has pneumonia and some other stuff. Well she's worried that her BM won't come in, it hasn't come in yet, but she's worried about the stress of the baby being in the hospital and that when it does come in she will dry up really fast. (Actually happened to my cousin, her DD was in NICU for a month and her BM came in and dryed up right away.) So I was speaking to my mom (my mom is friends with her mom) and wanted to know if I would be OK with giving my friend some of the frozen BM that I have stored away (I have got more then I will probably ever need.) In the event her BM does dry up she is really concerend about her DC getting the proper antibodies that it would need in the first couple of weeks of life, especially since it's having such a difficult start. I told her that she could have some as long as it didn't interfere with my DS getting his milk. Not sure if she will need it but just thought this was really interesting, kind of took me by surprise that this would be an option as well. (this wouldn't be a permanent thing just for like 2-3 weeks or something)
If you could would you give your BM to help a friend out? OR accept BM from a close friend to help your DC?

Re: Giving Breast Milk 2 friends baby
If you have it and you can share it, you are a great friend to her and her sick little one!
