Do I have to feed adults during a kids party?

We are having our kids party this weekend with about 18 children from 11-1.  We are feeding the kids (a browned bagged lunch to go with a theme)...but do I have to feed the adults?  Should I just order a few pizzas to have on hand in case someone wants to eat it?  Thoughts?

Re: Do I have to feed adults during a kids party?

  • yes, it's lunch time and they will be hungry.  i'd definitely have food for the adults.
  • Loading the player...
  • I would. I always feed everyone.
  • I would have something for the adults as well.
  • err, yes, feed anyone who shows up....

  • If the adults are staying, yes, you should feed them.

    That would be a yes.

  • Yes, if you are going to have people in your house during lunch time, you need to offer them food (and drinks). If you have pizza, the kids will probably want it too. Can you make up a platter of whatever you are feeding the kids for the adults. Or a deli platter to make sandwiches and some chips and fruit?
  • Of course.

  • Of course.  And since no one else has explicitly said it, I will:

You're either stingy or an idiot or both to even ask this question and not innately know the answer.

Ahhhh... that felt good. I've missed snarking around here!  :-)

  • Yes.  I would definitely be expecting lunch for all of us at that time.  What are the adults supposed to do if you don't feed them?  Eat super early or eat alone after the party? Seems strange.

LOL. I wouldn't have said it quite so harshly, but if you're having guests during lunchtime you absolutely need to feed them, regardless of their age.

    lol

  • I do my parties from 1-5 or so and make a huge layout for people.  Who has a party without food for all.  For this craziness, your punishment is having to prepare it all from scratch.

    I agree with gibs.

  • You absolutely must have an open bar as well.

I always have a Tastefully Simple margarita mix, three different kinds of beer and two different wines.

Maybe this and the food from scratch is why I'm so damn broke.  I'm feeding too much to too many damn people.

  • I've been to a slew of birthday parties and none of them fed the adults except for the ones at the person's house.  If it was at a place (bounce place, indoor place, etc.) they didn't feed the adults.  I had a party at the local park last year and just did some snacks and cake.  I specifically put on the invitation "Cake will be served" and had the party in the afternoon after lunch time purposely.  I made sure to have plenty of drinks on hand instead.

Exactly why I rarely come on here anymore.  I think it was a legit question.

    bwahahaahaha!  I needed that laugh.

Feel free to not feed them, OP, but don't be surprised when they take their gifts and give them to their own kid.  LOL.  Sort of like when I've been to a cash bar wedding and I want to go retrieve my card w/ cash and use that for the bar.

snacks are food!  it's the idea of a bunch of kids with their sandwiches and the adults standing around muttering about pizza and beer that I think is obnoxious.

Obnoxious that they would be put in that position, I mean. Big Smile

  • lol Zenya. Agreed again.

Whats wrong with you people? Feed your guests and provide some adult beverages!

  • I am assuming you mean at a "kids" party outside your home-- a "bouncy" place or some other activity for kids under the age of five where the adults in question are the parent who must accompany them, but are not necessarily your friends/family:

Yes, have a few pizzas, but be sure to get ones that you won't mind taking home and eating as leftovers. None of the moms at any of my kids party's ever, EVER touch a slice.  The only thing that they ever touch is the "box of joe" from Dunkin Donuts or bottles of water. Maybe the one random dad who shows up will eat a slice but I take home 99% of it. It is frustrating as all hell and every time I wonder why I must waste my money just to have something to offer people but that is how it is.

Now if it is friends and family at your home as the others assumed, yes, they expect a party.

  • Ditto Newwifey.  Now that my kids are older, parents never eat at the parties unless I put food right in front of them.  Get an extra pizza and some of those little bottles of water.
    .
  • It's lunchtime.  Yes.

    LOVE IT!!!!

  • I would unless you mentioned on the invites that lunch was being served for kids only.
