Clicky Poll: How many invites for 1st birthday?

DH and I have had very short conversations about A's 1st birthday party and how many people we should invite.  For those of you that have already thrown 1st birthday parties (or have already mailed out invites for parties coming up in the near future), how many did you send?

  • I voted 21-30, but that's how many invitations went out, not how many people were invited.  We invited ~40 adults, many of which had children.
  • I think we only had about 15-20 invites, but 30+ guests.  The families were pretty big.
  • lily's birthday was a bit of a madhouse.  we probably sent 35 invites and had 50 people attend.  it was a blast though- she absolutely loved it.

for eve i made it a bit more manageable, sent out 20 invites and am expecting more like 35 people.

we do send invites to all family that lives away and usually isn't able to make it to town just so they feel included.

  • For DD it was a big to-do with 50+ people when the IL's still lived in DH's home town. For DS I wanted to keep it small. Just our immediate family's and a couple friends from daycare.
  • Ours was way too big.  For Matthew, I will keep it much smaller!  Or at least that is what I say now.
  • Abby's 1st was pretty small. I do not remember how many invites but there was only family and a couple of really close friends, maybe ~15 adults and 1 other kid. (we were pretty much the 1st to have kids in our group of friends).

Things have changed a great deal since Abby.  We know have a lot of friends with kids and I have made a lot of mom friends since then.

For J's DH keeps complaining and asking why it can not be small like Abby's with a cake from HEB.  There will be about ~20 kids and 20-30 adults. Not sure if I am doing invites though, probably stick to evite.Embarrassed

  • We invited 20+ to DS's #1. In retrospect, it would have been fine to have just family and maybe another friend. For DD, we'll keep it really small. Probably just family together.
  • For Rhett we sent out around 22, mainly family. There were 8 kids invited, half of those were his cousins. The twins party will probably be bigger - I imagine we will invite twice as many kids to theirs.

  • OMG, you guys throw huge parties for the kiddos!  DH & I are going to try to keep it very small, although that gets really hard when you actually sit down to write the guest list.

  • We kept ours kind of small - mainly because my family in itself is ginormous (I have 6 siblings).  We sent out about 20 invites - a few of them to DH's side of the family that we knew probably wouldn't be able to attend but we didn't want them to feel left out.  We're going to have about 18 or so adults and about 6 kids.

  • 40 people total, including us and family. We sent out about actual 25 invitations, though. About 10 of those people were OOT that I knew wouldn't be able to make it to the party but wanted an invite anyway.
