1st Trimester

Allergies, m/s or

a combination of both??  I wake up every morning all sorts of stuffed up.  Once I get the crud cleared out of my nose, I will start to cough from the now loosened crud going down the back of my throat.  That will then make me gag and I inevitably throw up stomach acid, because there's nothing in my stomach yet!

Sorry to be all gross, but does anyone else have this problem?  I have been eating a bagel every morning to get something absorbent into my stomach.  The rest of the day, I will be hungry, eat and then feel nauseous within 20 minutes.  I only throw up after my coughing fits though.  I'm going to talk to the doctor about what, if anything, I can take for allergies since there's only one thing that's ever worked for me. I've always had allergies, but this gagging thing is new, I think.

Re: Allergies, m/s or

  • I've felt congested for the last month.  If I could rotor rooter my sinunses I'd be so happy!

I've heard congestion is just another perk of being pregnant.

As for the m/s....such a drag.  I can see how coughing will lead to throwing up.

Talk to your Dr.  Mine said I could take Sudafed - just plain Sudafed - if needed.

May we all feel better soon!

  • I have terrible allergies that get way worse when I'm pregnant (your nasal tissues swell with pg). So my doc (the one for my DD and the one for this LO) said it's perfectly safe to continue with my nightly Claritin to help. If I skip even one night I get a severe sinus infection. Maybe you want to check with your doc to see if that's an option for you. Just an idea, HTH!
  • Yes, I have a similar situation. I'm pretty sure that I would throw up anyway but all the post nasal drip I've been experiencing since coming off my steroidal nose spray definitely aggravates my stomach.  I plan on mentioning to my dr at my appointment tomorrow so we'll see.
