Parenting after a Loss

Who here EBF's?

and have you lost all of your pregnancy weight?

Do you fit into your pre-preg clothes?

My concern is....I go back to work in 10 days and NONE of my clothes fit! I have 10 lbs to lose but I think my body is "hanging on" to the extra 10 lbs because I EBF! Ugh!

  • Yes I am back to my pre-pg weight and clothes. Most of my tops dont fit too well because the boobies have taken them over! But all my pants fit again. It jsut takes time--it will come

  • I EBF-14lbs away from pre-pg weight. I honestly haven't tried my pre-pants because they're in the attic. I have worn some shirts and, while they fit, the belly flab is still there, not too bad, though. I honestly think that more weight would be gone, or at least some flab, if I actually started working out or even just did some sit-ups and push ups. I am too tired nap training right now, though.

  • I EBF and am back to my pre-pregnancy weight.  I do fit into all of my pre-pregnancy clothes although I personally feel like my shape is different.  Just hang in there, it will go...

  • I still need to lose about 10 lbs to get back to prepreg weight.  I was a little underweight to begin with, so I'm not sure it will happen.  Most of my clothes fit now except some work pants.  Hopefully they will fit by the time I go back to work in May.  I did have to get some new shirts though - everything was SO short!
  • me too.  i ebf and go back to work on monday and i still have a little over 5 lbs left, but most of my work pants don't comfortably fit.  only really my fat pants that i got early on in my pg fit which is so depressing.  it really sucks going from super comfy maternity clothes back to snug pants.  i wish the rest of the weight would just drop off already (plus another 20 lbs ; )
  • I have about 4-5 pounds to go.  My pre-pregnancy pants fit.  Luckily, I have always had a small waist and bigger hips so my pants were loose in the middle.  The 4-5 pounds I am holding onto are in my middle, so my pants actually fit a little better.

  • I ebf-ed until I was about 7 weeks pregnant. I was below my pre-pregnancy weight at my 6 week pp appt. When I went in for my 8 week ultrasound, I was 4 pounds lighter than my 6 week pp appt. (Wow that sounds so confusing...)
  • I EBF and am 4 pounds under my pre-preg weight. I'm in my pre-preg cloths, but none of the shirts really fit because my boobs are a lot bigger and I still have a little belly.
  • I exclusively pump.  I am already 8 lbs below prepg weight (I have the 40 I gained TRYING to get pregnant to lose) and my pants etc, all fit except in my belly.  I am hoping it is still swelling... but I dont seem to have a waist yet.  I'm getting skinnier... but I definitely have some waist issues to resolve and am going to have problems going back to work in a few weeks....

  • I EBf and came home from the hospital 32 lbs lighter! No clue how that worked.  I've put weight back on as well.  I am currently 20lbs lighter than my pre-pregnancy weight though (I had all the weight still on from my loss pregnancy).  I actually have had to go buy new clothes though.  The belly flab is awful though and I need to get my butt into gear with working out.

  • I EBF and fit into most of my pre-pregnancy pants.  Like you I didn't fit in them before going back to work.  I wore maternity pants for awhile especially the ones with the "real waist" or just a small band.  Most of my tops don't fit due to my boobs.  I don't know exactly when I started fitting into my pants...it just sort of happened.  I haven't weighed myself.  I got the stomach virus in Feb and that took a good bit of weight off.  Some time after that pants started fitting.  Just because I can button them doesn't mean they look good.  Things fit differently now.  My hips are wider, etc.  You'll get there.  It takes time.  Don't beat yourself up and don't worry if you have to wear maternity pants when you return to work.  You'll be more comfy that way :)

  • I EBF and I am a lb or two less than I was at the beginning of my preg.  Although clothes def do not fit the same.  I have love handles that I never had before.  I guess my chest is a bit larger but not much.  I don't feel skinnier by any means but the scale says I have lost weight.  Things have just shifted around kind of :)

  • I EBF and I still have 10lbs to get to my pre-pg weight.  Then another 15 to get to pre-m/c weight.  I won't even try on my pre-pg pants.  I don't want to get depressed, lol.  I know they won't fit.  My pre-pg tops mostly fit, but some are a little short.  I wear nursing tanks under everything so that helps if the shirts are a little short.
  • I do and I think it's been a miracle for me.  I gained 65 pounds with Cora and have lost most of it (see siggy) - that's super fast for me!  Usually I struggle to lose even one pound.  So, I think it has definitely helped although I have a ways to go.  Some of my pre-preg pants will go on but are tight so I'm still rocking the maternity pants.  I will have to buy a lot of new clothes though, my body is just different overall.

  • I did EBF (now we do solids, too).  I did not lose all my pre-pg weight and I did not fit into my pre-preg clothes.  I only lost 20 of 50 lbs, and that came off immediately, so I think it was baby + water weight.  I always thought BFing was supposed to help the weight loss ...

(Now, however, I'm down another 8 pounds thanks to m/s).

  • i still BF, though DS gets 3 solid meals daily as well.

when i went back to work at 7 weeks pp my clothes were all tight around the waist.

now - almost 10 months pp - i am 5-10 pounds below my pre-pregnancy weight.  my metabolism is much higher while BFing and i can eat a ton!

hang in there.  you will lose the weight with time.

I BF & pump and I'm holding on to 10 lbs.

I tried on some pre-pg jeans only because all my mommy pants were in the wash. No joke, I could not even get them over my THIGHS. It was frightening. I mean, I was super skinny before I got pg but jeez.

  • I am still about 5 lbs away from my pre-pg weight, however, I have at least 30 lbs to get off from my pre m/c weight.  I have so far tried on one pair of jeans, and I was able to zip them up, but haven't tried on anything else b/c they are still tight too.  Most of my tops are also to tight becaue of my large BBs.

  • We EBF until 6 months. I gained 35lb while pg and had lost 28 of that in 4 weeks. The rest just kind of came off slowly, but by maybe 4-5 months I was 5lb under pre preg weight. Some of my pre-pg clothes fit right away (the bigger ones) and I was able to get in to some of the smaller ones by 6-8 months.

  • I actually have!  I lost all 38 lbs plus another 42.  I am up to 80 lbs total!

I actually have slowly had to buy a whole new wardrobe since NONE of my jeans fit!

  • Me!

Yes I have lost all of my pregnancy weight, plus 5 pounds.

Yes, I finally fit into my pre pregnancy clothes. Pretty much all of them, which is really exciting!

When I went back to work at 12 weeks, I had to buy new scrubs because I was still well over my pre pregnancy weight. Once I hit 4/5 months the weight seriously started falling off. And it hasn't stopped. Lately I have been losing about a pound every week or two.

I would buy a few new things in your current size and keep rotating them... the weight should come off soon!!! Good Luck!

  • I EBF and have 10 lbs to go (down 38- so I'm pretty pleased!) I think continuing to BF and eat right will help get me to that end goal!
  • I'm almost 25lb below my pp weight at the moment, and still dropping. I had also lost about 25lb prior to getting pg, so, all told, I'm close to 50lb lighter than I was about a year and a half ago. Which is crazy to think. I actually need to go through my closet and get rid of all my bigger clothes- thankfully, I'd held on to some of my size 14's that I fit prior to DS being born (yes, I held on to clothes for 5 years... I'm glad I did now!!!) b/c I haven't had to go out and buy too many new things. I am in sore need of some new tops though- everything just hangs on me and I look bigger than I am.
  • I also EBF.  I have not lost all of the pregnancy weight.  I have lost 26 of the 38lbs I have gained.  One pair of pre-pregnancy jeans fit (my "fat" jeans) and nothing else.  To be fair, I haven't done anything to help with weight loss (no working out and I eat as if I were still pregnant).  My midwife told me not to worry about the weight and that it will come off in time, but honestly, DS is 2 months old now, and I feel like I should do something because I feel unattractive and just not like my old self.  I'm hoping to start working out soon.  I will be using the child care at my gym, but I haven't gotten up the guts to leave him there yet.
