3rd Trimester

Back from 40 week appointment

So baby is still in a good position and all our vitals are good.

I asked if I should be concerned that he hasn't dropped and she said I have a wide pelvic inlet and as soon as she went to feel his head he dipped in there and then came back out. Since it's wide he can apparently dip in and out as he wants versus babies that drop in to find extra room and then are kind of stuck there. So he'll probably stay high where it's more comfortable for him until I go into labor. (she also said this would have been a good reason why DD was breech) This I guess would also explain why I'm still pretty comfortable, am not having to pee all the time, and don't have that walking with a bowling ball waddle.

So if I make it to my 41 week appointment (next Wednesday) they'll do a u/s to check on him do an internal to see how favorable I am for an induction. I asked if she'd also go ahead and strip my membranes at that point. Then I'll go to the hospital for a NST to make sure he's looking okay.

She would induce on 4/10 and would start with the folley bulb (instead of cervidil) since I'm a vbac. I'll have to see how I feel but I might see if I can get her to hold out until 4/12 just to give him a couple more days.

So anyways, I'm really hoping to avoid induction but at least I know the plan if he won't come out.

Re: Back from 40 week appointment

  • Wow we have very similar stories...I had a c/s because my DS was breech (9/2008) and I am a VBAC candidate.  I don't want to be induced either...I want to go into labor on my own.  But my doc is saying that 4/10 or 4/11 (I will be almost 42 weeks) that she will want to induce using a Foley bulb and low doses of Pitocin.

Good luck and hope you go into labor on your own : )

  • So nice NOT to hear a whine! (Relax, other ladies. No one said pregnancy is easy, and we all--myself included-- are entitled to vent and complain, but it's refreshing at this stage of the game, to hear someone not be whining about how they're not progressing.)

OP- GL and I hope you don't need to be induced. It's great your docs are still giving you time for your LO to arrive on his own!

  • Good luck and hopefully your LO will come soon on her own! Either way, he'll be here soon!

Wow, we do have the same story!  It'll be a race to the finish line Smile  How are you feeling?  Any "signs" yet?

  • I hope your LO comes soon!

  • Nope no signs : (  Feeling actually pretty good, all things considered.  I'm still working, getting around ok.

I like that my dr. is giving me plenty of time to do it on my own, and it sounds like yours is the same way.  Now I'm just trying to beat the "clock."

    Good luck!
