If you bf dc how long did it take to get more distance

between feedings?  DS is nursing every 2 hours and it's making me a zombie.  My first DS ate every 3 from the begining and slept about 4 hrs at a time.  I am hoping he puts more space between feedings soon before I die from sleep deprevation.

  • 2 hours around the clock?  We never did that consistently :-/  We did every 45 minutes during the day and then 5-7 hour stretches at night.  It was a different kind of crazy-making.

Have you tried co-sleeping and co-napping to get some more sleep for yourself?
  • Still waiting for the time to get more between feedings. Once or twice she's gone 4 hours at night since being born.

  • He's eaten every 3 hours since coming home from the hospital, now he's starting to spread it to 4 hours, though its not consistent at all.  He STTN most of the time... pump and have your DH do a night feeding.  When Ethan would wake at night, DH did the feeding since E only woke once.  It was so nice!

The moment a child is born, the mother is also born. She never existed before. The woman existed, but the mother, never. A mother is something absolutely new.
  • I think by about a month she started to go to 3 hours between feedings sometimes and then it became more regular.  But by 2 months she started going longer between feedings at night.  If your child isn't doing that maybe you can pump and have DH take a feeding and get some much needed rest!

  • Just so you know you aren't alone, I'm BF every 2 hours like clockwork. Every once in a while, we'll get a 3 hour stretch.

  • Well he's a month old and this is going nonstop!!!  We have been to the Dr. quite a few times for various little things and he has gained a lb a week!  Yes 4 lbs in 4 weeks!  I am afraid he may never stop eating.  My husband jokes that our oldest is going to be a quaterback and Grayson is going to be the linebacker.  I would laugh but I'm too tired.
  • we're still on a 2 hour day schedule and 3-4 hour night schedule.  and kiddo won't take a bottle at all so literally every single meal has been given to her from my breast.  i'm tired.
  • my boy is still eating every 2-3 hours.. All night too. I am exhausted!!! It's been almost 6 mo. I am anxious to start more solids to see if it will help.
  • Caytibeth your killing me!  If I have to go 5 more months my boobs will fall off and then I'll die.
  • Lord i misread your siggy and thought he was 6 months.

Bean's feeding schedule changed around 8-10 weeks if that helps any.  He finally started eating every 1.5-2 hours during the day.
  • KBH - Damn! 4 pounds in 4 weeks! That kid is chowing or you've got super milk ;-)

Graham started spacing out feedings a little more at night around 1 month, but still eats about every 2 hours during the day.

  • KBH!  I've got a linebacker too!  My DS gained 4 lbs in 4 weeks too.  he was 12 lbs at his 1 month checkup and good lord...I don't know if his gianing has slowed yet...we'll find out on the 8th at his 2 month checkup.  He usually nurses about ever 2 hours during the day unless he takes a long nap, which is rare.  He nurses every 3-4 hours at night.  Usually one 4 hour stretch in the beginning and then every 3 after that until about 5 a.m.  then he's up every 2 hours after that.  I'm sooo tired.  I just want this chunk to sleep a little longer.  It does help when we co-sleep though.
  • My son is the same way and if I don't co-sleep he wakes every 1 to 1.5 hours to eat. Some times during the day I can get a 3 hour stretch. All I can do to not be dead tired is to take a nap during the day when he naps.
