High-risk appt. today and I'm really nervous...

in 1st Trimester

It's basically a consultation to discuss what this pregnancy is going to look like, in terms of extra dr. visits, extra testing that needs to be done, preventative measures, etc.

My NT scan is Friday, and all of THIS is making me nervous.  Literally, butterflies are going to fly out of my mouth because I'm so nervous. 

Sorry, just needed to get that out there.  Does anyone else have a dr. appt. coming up that they're nervous about??

    Good luck today, DLD! I hope the Dr. can ease your mind a bit so you don't have to be so nervous (which is completely understandable, btw).

    Don't be nervous.  I love that I am only seeing a Peri - she is so much more detailed than the OBs I read about on here.

    You will probably start off with a weight check, BP check, and urine sample then get put in a room to talk with the Peri about history, plans, etc.  I get an ultrasound at every appointment so you may get one too if they aren't the ones doing your NT scan.

    I am a bundle of nerves waiting for my first u/s! I can't help but think horrible thoughts about miscarriage etc.. so until I see the little bean I am not going to be at ease. My u/s isnt until 4/14 though

     

    6/28/10: Lost our sweet baby Addyston at 18wk 1day to pPROM 7/24/11: Michael William born at 24wk 2d due to IC after an emergent cerclage at 18wks, 4wk home BR and 2 weeks hospital BR. Grow strong our little Miracle! 9/17/11: Michael joined his sister in heaven after 8 amazing weeks with us on earth. He fought a very hard fight but NEC was too much for him in the end.     I was nervous just getting my second levels of betas this morning.  I'm probably going to be a nervous wreck before this pregnancy is over!

    LCB & Mrs.J., thanks, appreciate the words of encouragement.  We're going to discuss a preventative cerclage (cervix stitch) so that I don't (hopefully) go into pre-term labor again.

    I know I'm getting myself all worked up over nothing, but I'm worried she's going to say, "Sorry...can't help you. Your cervix is just too far gone."

    Aw.. Good luck! It will be well - met with Peri two days ago and the NT was just like an ultrasound and they were going to draw blood for AFP and sth else, but since I opted for the cvs that day, that was no longer necessary. The CVS (vaginal) was just like a more uncomfortable pap smear.  I decided to go with the CVS because the Peri made me feel so comfortable and was open and honest about the risks, how many she had done and how many had resulted in a miscarriage. Tha answer to that was 1 and she had done thousands!

    Good luck, doll!  You know that you'll be getting the right care early on for a successful pregnancy.  You and your little one are going to do mah-velously!!  Hang in there.  I know it's nerve wracking, but you'll be under great care.
