I am referring to things/activities/places outside of your home...
I feel like I should be doing more stuff w/DD outside of the home. I feel like i'm sheltering her and not letting her "discover the world" or something.... Everyone on here seems so much more active than we are... Taking their LO's everywhere, play dates, zoo, museum, aquarium, parks, etc....
I know i'm sort of limited because I do work FT and have a sucky commute (and not everyone here has the same situation)... I dont really know anyone who has a similar schedule to ours to do playdates with, and I really honestly dont think she'd sit still long enough at a storytime sort of thing at the library...
What else is there? I have no idea what parks are nearby. I could find out, I suppose... The closest zoo is in Philly (which I was thinking of doing on her birthday, actually...) She went to the Pittsburgh Zoo and Aquarium last summer and was only semi-interested (but she was in the stroller and alot of stuff was hard to see...) Should I just start hitting up the playgrounds or something?
Re: What sort of activities do you do w/LO (20+ months old)
When I worked full-time when he was younger we just did the park a lot during the week and then on the weekends too--and the zoo on the weekends. Now that I have more time with him, we've done the aquarium and will be doing the zoo during the week.
We did a music class at the park district (although he wasn't as interested as I thought). I will be signing up for a gym and hopefully he'll like the daycare there (he would go 3x a week with me).
Honestly--just taking him with shopping--grocery or even to Target shows them a lot. Or walking around a nursery, going to a pet store like Petco to see the birds, fish, rabbits, etc----things like that will teach them a lot too.

Notes:
For DS anything outside is exciting for him. We can just take a walk around the neighborhood and he is SUPER happy. We live near a school and walk to their playground often. Then we sometimes drive to others just for some variety. There is a big man-made pond not far from us and we will drive there to feed the ducks. When it is cold/rain we go to the indoor playground at our local mall (though sometimes evenings it can be CRAZY for a little one to get aorund there).
We are very lucky to live 5 minutes away from one of the best zoos in the country and we take short trips there which he is at a great age for right now. We have a little ice cream shop in our little downtown area and DS loves to get a cone and sit and watch all of the cars go by. I can't think of what they are called but some cities have places that have a bunch of those inflated things (jumper rooms, etc) that at this age they cans tart enjoying.
Maybe you could take a class of some kind? Check you local rec center for something like swimming, art, music, gymnastics, etc. They have classes for this age group in all of those things around here and they are only one evening or weekend day each week usually. Hope that helps!
We'll have a playdate with you!
I've taken her to LV zoo (not fabulious, but good for a short time!), we do playland once a week, she does little gym and swimmin' zone once a week (not sure of your schedule if those types of things are possible)
Breinigsville has a park that is wonderful!
I've been thinking of venturing to Hands on House (Lancaster), Please touch museam (Philly), Camden aquarium, Philly zoo...
When it gets warmer their's Canobles, Dutch Wonderland, Sesame Place...
I work FT too and we try to go to the park in the evenings when its nice or we go for walks in our neighborhood. On the weekends we do the zoo or Adventure Aquarium in Camden which is awesome. We try to also head down to the boardwalk and walk around weather permitting. DS also really enjoys just running errands with us as well or just going to walk around the mall.
