okay- mom's of puller-uppers... come in!

what items do you find best/safest to help them pull up?  I'm thinking toys, activity tables, ect.  She want to pull up on e.v.e.r.y.t.h.i.n.g.  I was thinking of getting this- is there anything that you have that you like?

  • Honestly, the couch and coffee table.  DS used his Leap Frog table too.

That doesn't look safe to learn how to pull-up on because they fall A LOT at first and the corners on that aren't so safe (I think this is the toy where auchick's DS cut the corner of his eye on if I'm not mistaken).

  • Sorry, I dont have a suggestion..but I really like that. Where did you find it?
  • We have something similar to this and it is NOT good for pulling up.  I can't let DD play with it unless I am sitting there holding onto it because it tips whenever she tries to pull up.  Plus the edges are pointy and it freaks me out that she is going to hurt herself.
  • he likes the arm chairs, couch and coffee table. and he uses me lol. i agree with grins, that doesn't look safe to pull up on b/c of the corners.
  • it makes me nervous when C pulls up on that toy.....but he absolutely LOVES it!

**the one we have has rounded edges though

  • Ben loves to pull up on the activity table.  Then he pushes it around like a bulldozer.  He does that with everything--diaper boxes, the wipes box, etc.  Anything he can get behind and push, he loves.  I'm just waiting for the day that he lets go and just walks on his own!

He also pulls up on anything that's the right height.  He'll even brace himself against a door, cabinet, etc. and stand up.  It doesn't have to have a ledge.

Target.  But, from what I am hearing it may be dangerous for kids who cannot stand on thier own yet.... Its a great price for an activity center- maybe for older kids though.... THanks ladies!

I agree with Grins about the couch. They can't pull it over and it is soft if they fall and bang their chin on it.

This. He has a harder time with the LF table because he tends to topple it, but at least it's fairly soft. The couches obviously are, and we have foam padding around the edges of our coffee table as part of our baby-proofing. He pulls up on everything, but I think the heavier and sturdier an object, the better. That toy, while fun looking, also has the look of something that could be very painful if smacked the wrong way.

  • DD likes to crawl over to me and use my legs to pull herself up on best.  We also have a basket downstairs with diapers and wipes (so we don't always have to go upstairs) that she likes to use to pull up as well.  This weekend my parents got her this mailbox walking push toy thing that she has figured out how to pull up on as well.

Since she has just started I try not to let her get to anything she can hurt herself on, that is why I like it best when she used me since I can catch her if she is going towards something that is going to hurt her!

  • Couch, coffee table, and kitchen table chairs.  I feel like I could get him a toy, but he would prefer these items anyway!

  • He uses anything and everything. I'm most comfortable with him using the sofa and his Leap Frog table. I actually got rid of our glass-topped coffee table and replaced it with a leather ottoman so he can pull up on that, too. Unfortunately, his favorite thing is the leg of the dining table. But he's already slipped and smacked his face on the corner, so it's now verboten. Sadly, he doesn't remember that he hurt himself, so he still makes a b-line for it every 15 minutes.
  • Our couches!!! LOL!  We have 3 soft and cushy couches in the living room that he's always pulling himself up on.  And a brown cushioned toy box I bought at Kohl's awhile back.  And the coffee table (we put corner guards on so he doesn't hurt his head).
