Back pain and car seat question

I've been having lower back pain for a few weeks now. I think it may be the way I carry Olivia's car seat and the way I have to put her in the car. She's still in an infant car seat that locks into the base in the car. I'm wondering if there is a better, safer way for me to do this, that's easier on my back, or if I should just look for a convertible car seat. If I do this, we'll have to get 2, one for each car. Olivia is nearly 16 pounds, but I still feel like its a bit early. Any suggestions?

I'd stick with the infant carseat for now. She's pretty young. Why don't you just leave the infant seat in the car so you don't have to carry it?

I always carried them with the handles over my elbow, and my arm folded up that way my biceps were taking the heaviest part of the load and not my back and upper body. I could carry them both at the same time that way with no problems until we switched to convertible seats, and I'm physically pretty weak and have a bad back. LOL

Or you could just leave the seat in the car and use it like a convertible seat.

Girl I feel you 100% and also I feel that my back has not been the same since I went in labor with her and had her. I am calling a chiropractor today. Sorry I don't have a solution on the carrier issue---I have the same problem and it is difficult anyway and a B* to do in heels for work! Ugh!

I don't know if it would work... but what if you left the seat in the car just took her in and out.

Maybe put her in a baby wrap or something?

But I have almost no experience in this. My nephew is around 17lbs now and he is still in the carrier, I would rather carry him around, BUT... he will sleep in the carrier and wake up if you pick him up.

yeah, so I'm no help... sorry.

All good solutions, thanks. I can't leave her car seat in her car though b/c I take her to my sister each day for day care and either me or DH picks her up so we have to leave the car seat there. Plus my sister takes her places and she has a base in her car. I'll try Leslie's method!

this is how I've recently started to carry the infant seat. She's just over 17lbs.

My back hurts more when I just carry her (like holding her for all of church or something)

this is how I've recently started to carry the infant seat. She's just over 17lbs.

I carry Ry this way too and really have since birth because I am short and it is awkward for me to carry her with my arm extended all the way down. Still hurts my back a bit but that could also be from the 10 bags it seems I am carrying in or out the door each day too along with her!!

How far are you walking with the car seat? Could you put it in one of those car seat frame strollers?
