3rd Trimester

Question for elders

Do you ever feel like your having trouble breathing? Not gasping for air or anything like that but just an uncomfortable feeling. I almost feel like I need to remind myself to breathe... It comes and goes. It's a hard feeling to explain.

Re: Question for elders

  • Yes!  I have unfortunately had this for most of my pregnancy, though it seemed to lighten up a bit at the end of the 2nd trimester.  I had it with my first pregnancy too and my understanding is that it is related to hormones and your lungs working faster than when you aren't pregnant.  It's normal but unpleasant.  Sometimes I get winded just talking while I am sitting in meetings etc.  It will go away as soon as the baby is born.  Good luck!

  • Yup. Mostly when I do something like climb stairs or when LO is pushing up on my lungs.
  • I've had shortness of breath since I was seriously like 8 weeks pregnant. And it only got worse the bigger the baby got (and now that baby STILL won't drop, it's still there!)
  • Sure do. I have had this feeling most of the third trimester.  Sometimes I feel like the baby literally just took my breath away.  I definitely feel like I can't get enough air to breath. In the beginning it made me anxious which made it worse but now I just remind myself to take in short breaths and that helps.
  • Definitely. I can be sitting at my desk working and get the winded feeling. I just chalk it up to LO being so high up still. Waiting for the day I can breathe again! haha
