Who dilated 1 cm at 36 weeks?

I am dilating a cm and from the sono they think baby is already 7 1/2 pounds...she's measuring 37 weeks 4 days even though i'm just over 36 weeks. (#1 was 9 1/2 so this is probably likely even though i know these measurements are notoriously off.) her head is down and right over my cervix. locked and loaded if you will.

i don't know what i am asking. i am just so curious! they want to induce me at 40 weeks and that's fine, but i really want her to come before then!!!

at 36 weeks, I was 2cm and 50% effaced. Now at almost 38, I'm 4cm and 70%. At my 32 week sono, they measured the baby at 5lbs, head down, and locked and loaded as you described. I'd hate to have a sono now and have them tell me the estimate... Oh and my fundal height was 39 weeks yesterday. I'm thinking I could go anyday now, but this baby is gonna come out when it wants to (I just would prefer it to not come out on Saturday as its my MIL's birthday!)

36 weeks, 1cm dialated, 90% effaced. Same at 37 weeks, had DD at 37 weeks (a few days after the 37 week appt).

I was not dilated at all right at 36 weeks but baby was measuring at over 7 lbs and was also locked and loaded. I had DS two days later at over 8 lbs.

At 36 weeks three days, I was 1cm dilated and 70% effaced, and the head was low just like you. At 37 weeks to the day, DS was born. He was tiny though (5lbs 10oz).

you guys are scaring me! : ) the crib isn't assembled yet and laundry not complete. hospital bag not packed. ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!

i don't remember if i dilated early last time - i don't think i had them check me. i am on track to have another 9 1/2 pounder at 40 weeks, which is fine......i just don't want her larger than that!

We weren't ready at all. I went to the hospital with my purse and the clothes I was wearing. I had to send DH home the next day with a list of things to get for me and he had to install the carseat. It worked out fine, although DH says with the next kid I am packing my bag the day we get a BFP.

at 36w i was 1cm and 70% effaced. at 38w i was 3cm and 90% effaced. at 39w i was 3cm and 100% effaced. i stayed that way until tomas was born 12 days after his due date. my MWs did not estimate his weight, as, like you said yourself, those estimates are notoriously wrong, so what's the point!

At 37 I was 1 cm and 50% effaced. At 39 I was 2 cm and about 60% effaced. The doctor stripp my membranes but nothing happend.

At 40 I was 3-4cm and 70% effaced. The doctor stripped my membranes and DD was born two days later on her due date.

This is exactly what happened to me.

DD had also been measuring a week or two ahead as we got closer to the end. She wound up being 8 lbs. 11 oz.

DD was early too :-) And I had an appointment on Thursday- and was told I was off bedrest and not having a baby anytime soon. She was born Sunday.

i am kind of anxious i guess. my father in law gets worse every.single.day. so we are potentially looking at the coincidence of his death and our daughter's birth. stressful much?

I was dilated 1 cm at 36 weeks and had to be induced at almost 41 weeks.

sorry to hear about your FIL. My thoughts are with you all. My uncle (who has had his brain tumor for 19 years) has taken a sudden and drastic turn for the worse. I think we only have a month or less :-( Very grateful for hospice.

Me! I walked around 1-2 cm dilated for WEEKS. Both of my kids were born at 40w2d.

I started dilating with both kids by 37 weeks (could've been earlier, but that was the first time they checked). I was 3 cm with DD and 2-3 with DS. I progressed a centimeter a week with each of them, gradually getting more effaced. I was induced with DD on her due date, and DS came on his own two days early. I was told by both OB practices that I was definitely going to go early, but apparently my kids liked it in there.

With DD, they estimated her to be about 7.5 lbs at my 38 or 39 week appointment (just by feel; no ultrasound was done), and she was 8 lbs 10 oz when born. My son was 8 lb 11 oz. Both were "locked and loaded" for weeks before that. Since my pregnancies were alike in that way, I would tentatively think that you assume your second one will be similar to your first.

I hope she comes a little early so you aren't uncomfortable for much longer - and maybe she'll be under 9 lbs But figure that the more dilating and effacing you take care of now, the less you have to worry about once you're in active labor. And I hope you're able to tell your FIL about her arrival.
