baby hair loss :(

My fuzzy little one (Lucas) is suddenly losing his hair...He seriously looks like a tiny Friar Tuck! Is that normal? I've never had a baby lose hair before. It couldn't have anything to do with the whole bfing extravaganza could it....please tell me I'm being ridiculous.

Re: baby hair loss :(

  • DS was born a brunette... then lost ALL his hair (gradually) and became a platinum blonde... I thought it was strange, but it was the same for all of my cousins' kids too :)

this happened with my DS too. lots of dark curly hair at birth and now he has a lot of straight blond hair! he was mostly bald for awhile in the middle.

  • Ok, I feel better then. I'm sad though. I really loved his fuzzy little head. Every time I rub his head my hand is covered in hair and when he gets out of the tummy tub, the surface of the water has tons of hair floating on it.

  • Happened with both of mine too.  With C, it was the same way - it would be all over the place.  With J, it wasn't as readily noticeable.

  • My babies are bald, but I've heard that it's normal :)

  • #1 looked like he had male-pattern baldness.  He lost all the hair on the top of his head, lol.

#2 lost all his hair too and then the top grew in long, and the back took a while to grow back.

  • I thought almost all babies lost their newborn hair! Bruce's dark hair all fell out and was replaced with blonde fluff. First it was the back where he laid - the normal baby bald spot - and then it sort of went in patches around his head.... definitely nothing to do with your nursing issues.
  • It has nothing to do with the bfing,  my LO and I started losing our hair at the same time I would say at about 3 months.  It is very normal for babies to lose hair early on.  It will grow back but it is hard to see I know.  For a few days there was a lot of hair in DDs crib and on her change padCrying
