I know I'm not that interesting, and people probably don't remember my story but DH and I lost our jobs, moved where my parents live and had to live with them until our house rented back home to move out. My parents are lunatics and alcholics so it's been a bundle of joy.
I got an email from the management company we're using saying that they got an application, the tenant passed the credit, criminal, and employment check, made a deposit and are moving in April 12. EFF YEAH!
It'll take us a little while to find a place, my dog just tore her ACL and needs surgery so we have to find a first floor apartment, she's too big to carry down the stairs but THE END IS NEAR! I am so thrilled. I was sweating all day I was so excited. SEEE YA mom and dad.
Re: Moving OUT of my parents house!
Hope you find someplace quickly. Poor puppers with the ACL tear. Yuck. My little smoosh face tore her CCL last summer. Luckily because she is small, and I was hyper vigiliant about her keeping very very still/restricting all movement for 6 weeks after it happened she did not need surgery, but we are very very lucky with that.
I hope the little guy heals quickly.
You didn't need the surgery? Wow that's lucky! This happened about a month ago and she's still limping. We don't let her run or anything, we walk her in the backyard for potty breaks on a leash and we keep her in the kitchen away from the little dogs so they don't get her too excited (I have the terrier, plus my parents two mini dachsunds). I read after work until about 8, and rub her belly to keep her calm but the doctor says she'll still need the surgury.
My terrier tore his ACL two years ago and we had the surgery and he's good as new now. This time it's our English Bulldog, believe it or not, she is the most active dog I've ever had and she doesn't listen to anyone. She LOVES to run, so the doctor says she'll basically have to be in her crate for six weeks besides bathroom breaks. She's going to hate it!
absolutely remember your story-thinking largely miserable parents and dog issues? so....YAY!
you've really handled this situation with some grace and optimism (at least here), really glad you're getting your own space again.
Great news Curly. O and I love English Bulldogs, Fi and I were planning to get one when we moved but they are ridiculously expensive in Ireland.
How old is yous and had she/he has many health problems?
Thanks Shel, that means a lot. My dad and I basically hate each other but I have been letting literally everything slide for six months and I've gone out of my way to stay calm and not cause drama. My parents and I haven't fought since I got here because I've been very concious of how my behavior will upset them (even though they're nuts) cause it's their house, so I do everything their way. My mom's also a chain smoker so that says a lot, cause I got sick because of it (doctors words, not mine!) and she yelled at me for coughing...apparently I was being dramatic. I normally have a hot temper so it's been pretty difficult and I don't think DH is giving me enough props.
Phantom, they're expensive here too. My DH and I couldn't decide on a dog so I got a Westie and he used his tax refund to get her a few years ago. I think she was $2K? She's only three and she's got some kind of allergy that's making her go bald on her sides, we've tried different foods but it won't go away. They're doing a workup on her when she's under for her leg to see what she's allergic to. Other than that it's just weird stuff, she eats pretty much anything, I've got a "belly kit" for her that has pepcid, anti-vomiting, anti-diarrhea cause she'll get ahold of something in the backyard, who knows what, and next thing you know I'm up all night with pedialyte and poo meds trying to get her back to normal. One time we found a black widow spider at our house in MS and DH and I were trying to figure out what to do with it, Lu ran up and ate it...that was a fun day. She used to run along the fence because the dogs on the other side were doing it, and ran a track into the yard, then it got muddy during the rainy season and she got some rare fungus that peeled the skin off her front paws....it's all weird stuff with her. Right now her nose is peeling, so we have an anti-fungal/anti-bacterial combo for that. I've kind of become a vet in training because the vets office knows us by name now, so they kinda tell me over the phone what to do if it's not serious enough to come in. Does DH take care of his dog? NOPE! lol but I love her to pieces now so its ok.
