I'm really excited to start checking in with you ladies!! My consult is scheduled for April 29th (more waiting...) but I couldn't be more excited!

I was wondering if you could tell me the process of how this all works. I have an idea but not really for sure. Is it possible for us to be cycling in June/July or is that putting to much hope into it?

I know that we have to pick our donor and then they get us on the same cycle and then we're good to go, or at least I'm hoping so.

Thoughts or advice welcome.

I am really early in the process. We have selected our donor and I put down my retainer fee. My RE wanted me to wait until my beta on April 5th, before I paid in full for everything, which I appreciate and understand, but I feel like it has delayed us a few weeks.

I think June or July is possible IF you find a match quickly and your RE approves of them. You also need to meet with a lawyer and a psychologist. And then you also need to have a bunch of testing done, usually done the same time as the donors. We are hoping to avoid a bunch of this bc our donor just donated in February and we just cancelled an IVF a few weeks ago.

I am assuming you are using an in-house donor so it will depend on what testing they have already done on her (do they do Day 3 testing? genetic testing? has she donated before?).

It will also depend on where you both are in your cycles and how quickly they can synch you up. Also, does the donor have any dates that she needs to avoid?

So June/July may be doable.

We will be using an in house donor that has probably already been screened and tested. I believe that they all require this testnig before they even donate, so I'm hoping that everyone has already been tested, but I could be wrong.

So, I guess I just hurry up and wait till the 29th and go from there. IF is full of waiting, isn't it!?

At my clinic, I had to do a lot of additional testing myself before I could cycle, including a mock embryo transfer. I also had to see a psychologist and I couldn't even look at the donor database until after all the initial stuff was done. We decided to go forward with donor egg at the end of July 2009, I had all my testing and meetings done by the end of September when we chose our donor, and we cycled in November with a repeat, in-house donor.

I guess it just depends on the clinic and what they require.

Hi T., it's possible for June/July but a lot will depend on testing that needs to be done plus syncing up your cycles, etc. You never know how quickly you will select your donor as well. Realistically...maybe think to yourself that it will be Aug or Sept - then if it's earlier it will be a nice surprise, right?

Congrats on making the move to donor eggs! We started the process in December 2009 (repeating all the tests due to FDA requirements, meeting with genetic/psychological counselors, etc.). I think in January we did the mock cycle to test my lining. When that was over I put down the donor deposit and started BCPs on February 4th. The donor had her ER on 3/14 and here I am with a BFP on 3/20. So all told the process took about 4 months. We moved as quickly as my body would allow...the only delay was about 2 weeks waiting for my husband's genetic test results, which were completely optional but we did them just in case.
