Question for those with a pain med free birth

Do you have a hard time saying stuff hurts now?

I had a root canal today, and I started to feel it about half way through. They kept asking me if I was ok, and kept saying yes. It was like, the pain was nothing compared to labor, and I was doing my Bradley techniques to get through it.

I am probably weird because DH was horrified when I told him.

  • Not really.

The numbing crap never works on me.  I have to get so much for it to work at the dentist.

  • The dentist keep saying "we gave you a lot to begin with" and I wanted to ask if there was a maximum, or what?
  • LOL I haven't had a chance to test it yet.  But I think it will be the case when that happens!

  • Yes and no.  My pain tolerance is very different.  For example, when I first went to the dr for my back way back when it first happened the assphat had the balls to tell me it couldn't hurt as bad as I was saying.  I kindly told him that I pretty much given birth to a 10lbr with no drugs (Ryan came out with his arm next to his head so I pushed the arm & head at the same time) so I knew what pain was.

But I also see the difference in types of pain.  Labor pain is different than if you stub your toe...and stubbing your toe can hurt like hell!

  • At first I thought no way!  But, then I thought about it and I haven't had anything I would consider near severe pain since I gave birth.  Everything is just "sore" and not pain.  We'll see what happens after I go to the dentist.  I have a "sore" tooth.
