So do I really need special CDs for a NB?

I didnt start CDing DS until 7 months.  I have used BG Organic OS diapers the whole time and I LOVE them.  I bought the same ones for DS#2.  DS#1 was 9 lbs 14 oz when he was born and this baby has been taking a similar track in size so far (although I know you can't tell ahead of time).  I didn't think I would need to have any special "sized" CDs for DS#2 based on size but now I am starting to wonder.  I mean, I dont want to spend the money on a bumch of NB dipes only to use them for 2 weeks (I'd rather just use sposies for 2 weeks).  I dont know....what do you ladies think?

  • We switched out of NB and into OS diapers at 10 lbs.  If I were you I would wait and, like you said, use sposeys for the first little while if he's nearly 10 lbs (or just try the OS - who knows, they might fit)

  • OS dipes would not have fit C for like 3 months, and it was probably close to 2 months before the BG Smalls fit...but she was born at 6 lbs.  If LO is going to be close to 10 lbs I'd probably just skip the NB sizes and know you might have to use sposies for a few weeks.

  • I wouldn't bother.  We don't use OS (at least yet) but FB perfect size.  DS #2 was 8 lbs 10 oz at birth, and was over 10 lbs just after 2 weeks.  We started cloth around 3 weeks old (we circ, and between that and the belly button, I thought 'sposies would make life easier at first.) and our FB smalls were fine.  We didn't do cloth until DS#1 was 5 months, and could skip right to mediums with him.  And actually DS#2 was in larges at 6 months because his thighs were so thick.

  • If I were you I guess I'd chance it, especially since your babies seem big. If you are ok with sposies for a couple weeks in the even that the OS don't fit, I suppose you can run to the store for some on your way home from the hospital. My guess is that at 9-10lb you could make it work, even if they're bulky.

  • i'd probably either just try the OS or use sposies for the first few weeks/month. Either way you will probably have some blowouts, since the OS will be a little big, but c'est la vie.

DS was 6 lbs 2 oz. I cannot IMAGINE delivering a 9-10 lb baby. My parts hurt just thinking about it!
