Cloth diapers

Really wanting to use cloth diapers for my first baby, but cannot seem to find anyone I know who has used them.  (They all think I am crazy for wanting to!)  Does anyone out there have an opinion on what brand they like and why?

Re: Cloth diapers

  • Check out The Eco-Friendly Family board for some good ideas.  We're going give the gDiaper a try.

  • I love my CD's!  I use bum genius V3.0 I have NEVER had a blow out. EVER!  They are super easy to use and I have a HE washer which makes them really easy to wash. I bought 18 diapers - for $275

Checkout www.jilliansdrawers.com they offer free trials and a money back guarantee.

they also sell them at Beachwood place at a kiosk called Teaks. Its the same price as Jillians.

I also recommend the Eco friendly board too. They are very helpful. And dont worry, EVERYONE thinks I am crazy for going CD, but I have saved a ton of money and I am doing my small part to help the environment.

    Good luck!

  • After not being able to find too much info. in the area I just did online research.  I ended up registering at jilliansdrawers.com (based on eco-friendly family board) and using their suggestions for set-up.  They have a few different suggestions for set-up like "cheapest" and "most convenient".  I'm hoping to get All-in-ones from my shower, but if not, than I'll do mostly prefolds with covers.

There are two diaper services in the area (I mention in a post below), but I haven't heard back from either of them.  I'm not interested in a service, but I thought they might have info. sessions, but it doesn't look like it.

I'm due in July - I'm not sure if you already have an LO or if you're pregnant, but I'd be more than willing to share my experiences once I get them if you want.

    Good luck!

  • I'm not using cloth, but friends of mine rave about the Bum genius 3.0 diapers. I think it also comes down to what fits your child the best. You may want to buy a couple of each to try until you figure out what works for you.

Also, if you don't mind 'used', you can save money on cloth diapers at https://www.diaperswappers.com/

I figure, they're washed, so why not?

  • re: used diapers - I've also seen them on the local craigslist, as well as being on ebay, diaperswappers (noted above), jilliansdrawers, and some other diaper sites that sell new.

  • Ditto what the pp posts say about Jillian's Drawers and EFF Board.

    Also, Rumparooz get GREAT reviews!

We are trying thoe Rumparooz, Bum Genius, Flip and Green Mountian Diaper prefolds (Cloth-eez) - also get GREAT reviews.

Rumparooz are OS diapers that will fit much earlier (from day 1!) versus most other OS diapers.
