I'm frustrated...wwyd?

I'm in the local MOMS club and we have playgroups for similarly aged kids. Its  a long story but I'll consolidate...I started in a group with 4 kids (including DD). We had two playdates and only one other kid showed up each time. Two kids does not equal a playgroup IMO...so we combined with another playgroup and ended up at 8 kids. Then we met twice and had 3 kids each time. So obviously, not everyone attends every time. So we got some new members with like aged kids and we are up to 10 kids so they want to split the group into two groups of 5 (of which I know not everyone will attend and we'll have groups of 2 again! grrr). So another option is to split  and keep the 6 moms/kids together that were together before and then put the 3 new moms/kids together in a separate group. I don't think its fair that the new moms/kids are in a group without older members of the club, that is unfair to them as they don't get to know older members. However, I want DD in a stable playgroup or I'm going to quit the playgroup b/c its just too frustrating. So, WWYD? Any other options you suggest? We can't have just one big group either, its against the "law" of playgroups. Stick out tongue

  • Why can't they stay together?

  • I quit MOMS partly because of the playgroups.  The way our group was organized (playgroups by age) it was hard having an infant and a 2 year old b/c they weren't "allowed" at each others playgroups.  What the heck is a SAHM supposed to do with the other kid?  That, and some really nutso new members made me quit.

    GL though!

  • I agree it is frustrating. They are open to us bringing all of our other kids though so that is good. But I think I'm going to quit the playgroup if nothing better can be decided.
  • Wow that's crazy!! Our mom's group has over 40 moms and I'm not sure how many kids.  They range in age from newborn to 5 years.  Generally at any given playdate we have at least 5 moms so upwards of 8 kids.  Playdates at people's houses (versus the park) can have as many as 20 kids.  I've only seen us all together at our Halloween party.

Oh I should say that the MOMS club has about 70 members. We just split into similar aged kid groups for playdates. We also have other things we do with any and all age kids.

  • Wait, a 10 person playgroup is against the playground law? Since when?! I'd keep it as one big group and tell the moms who don't want to to grow up. You'll likely NEVER end up with 10 kids actually showing up between illness, other commitments, vacations, whatever....

yeah I'd love to but I don't have the authority to do so. The MOMS club has a board and they voted on the rules for playgroups. Blech.
