I've been pumping (both breasts) after DS breastfeeds to get what he didn't eat, and saving that to introduce him to the bottle. (As he will be bottle-fed breastmilk during the day when I go back to work.) I am planning on introducing the bottle tonight before we go to bed. He will be 4 weeks old tomorrow. My question is, how old was your LO before you introduced the bottle? And how did he/she do?? Is four weeks too young?
I am planning on pumping when DS takes the bottle. Should I wait to pump to see if he takes the bottle or not??
Re: Introducing the Bottle
I waited till 4 weeks with DD1 and will do the same with DD2. Its what the pedi and LC recommended too.
Don't pump incase he doesnt take the bottle and you just want to BF him.
GL!
I gave DD a bottle at 2 weeks because I had somewhere to be and DH needed to feed her.
If LO is hungry, he will learn to take a bottle... I don't see any need to wait to pump- you can always freeze it!
Oh it's not that lol... I just don't want to pump and empty my breasts if DS doesn't take the bottle. You know what I mean??

I introduced a pumped bottle at 3 weeks. The pediatrician told us that it is best to introduce between 3 and 6 weeks. If you do it before then there is a risk of your lo not wanting to bf because it is harder than sucking milk out of a bottle, and if you do it after 6 weeks there is a chance that your lo won't take it because it is so used to the breast.
Sam did just fine when I introduced at 3 weeks, and it gave me a chance to rest my nipples so they weren't so sore all the time.
Good Luck!
