Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Sleep question

How old is ur LO and how often do they wake up during the night?

My LO is 5 weeks and she is up every two hours to feed. My friend said her baby was already sleeping thru the night by that age and thinks its wierd mine is not. I said she is lucky to have her baby do that and my baby is totally normal. Any thoughts?

My LO is the same age as yours and he eats every 2-4 hrs or sometimes every hr.

He is only 7.5 pounds or so - I think I am a long way from getting a full night of sleep!

  • My LO is 12 weeks and has been STTN since we got home from the hopsital. We are lucky and you are right!

  • My LO is 6 weeks and his sleeping patterns are very unpredictable!  There have a been a few nights he has slept 6 hours at a time; then there are nights he won't go longer than 3.  I agree, your baby is normal!!
  • DD has slept 5-6 hour stretches since 4 weeks.  She currently only wakes once to eat and goes back to sleep for 3-4 hours.  We are lucky.

  • My LO is 4 weeks and he eats usually every 4 hours during the day and after his 11:30-12:30 feeding at night he usually goes 5 hours. Today however after 3 hours he was having a melt down. They are all so different and all so completely normal :)

  • DD is 5 1/2 weeks and has been clocking 4 or 4 1/2 hours recently.  Although that may change as it seems we are beginning the 6 wk. growth spurt.  She usually goes to bed between 10:30 & 11:30.   Up for the day by 8 or 9.

    ETA:
Once it hits 7:30/8 at night, I usually try to feed her every 1 1/2 hours so she's nice & full!  I EBF.

  • Every baby is different, and will STTN when he/she is ready to.  Your baby sounds normal.

FWIW, my son didn't sleep through the night regularly until he was 20 months old (not "normal" at all). My daughter has slept for up to five hours at a time already, but averages around 3-4 hours between feedings at night.

STTN as a newborn? Wow. How does your LO get in enough feedings during the day...?
