I'm pretty sure DS is in one because he was restless all night last night and pretty much got up for the day at 3am. I left him to read and play in his crib but that didn't last long. Ugh. He's been working really hard on talking lately and tries to imitate just about everything we say so I think we're in for a language explosion, but I seriously may drop dead of sleep deprivation before it happens.
Give me some hope? Will this pass quickly? He's never been a great sleeper but we were down to 2 quick night wakings which I can deal with. This, however.... ![]()
Re: So how long do these developmental sleep things last?
I'm a really mean mama, and when DS pulled this around 5 am (yup - 5 - which I know for many is actually a reasonable hour) after trying to put him back to sleep and not being successful, I let him have a book in bed and left the room. He was happy, and it actually got him to go back to sleep (I think - if not, it entertained him another 2 hours... which I doubt). Ours lasted another 2 days after I figured that trick out.
GL - I have a feeling it was a huge stroke of luck that let ours last such a short time. Sending sleepy dust your DS's way!
Ugh, I hate you a little right now. Not really but...
I tried sticking DS in his crib with his favorite magazines hoping he would look at them and go back to sleep, but he looked for about 5 minutes and then started crying. Oh, and 5am is our normal wake-up time.
Hopefully we only have a couple more days to go.
Oh, I think I'm owed a lot of things, but I won't hold you personally responsible.
The upside is DS is such a great, easy-going kid. He really couldn't be any more fun and he has his nasty moments, of course, but he's still very easy to distract. And he's just so funny! Even at 3am I can't resist his little giggle when he's trying to wiggle away from me and run down the hall. So while more sleep would be heavenly it's hard to want to change too much because I'm a pretty lucky mama as is.
LOL
Yeah - I'm very lucky, too. Although I think DS owes me a martini after yesterday's drama over a diaper change. *sigh* Good thing he's a cutie!!
Oooh yeah, we have those too. Though it helps if I let DS wipe himself (only wet diapers, of course). Plus it's adorable to watch him run around his room while trying to wipe himself with one hand and grab himself with the other!
Methinks we should keep a running tally of all the drinks they owe us and demand payment in full on their 30th birthdays.

Good luck!
But good Lord, 3 weeks?!?!?!?!?!?!?
