Grody but EFF... Porta-potties

What happens with the stuff from porta-potties?  What about the stuff that gets dumped in them that isn't waste or compostable (like TP)? 

I am going to the Bonnaroo Music Festival in June and for four days I will be using only porta-potties.  I haven't been since 2008 and the last times I went I survived the porta-potties with three baggies in my bag - one of my own TP (in case there isn't any), one baggie of personal wipes (to feel fresh and well... sometimes they are more helpful), and one baggie of Clorox wipes (for a wipe down of the seat b/c squatting can be messy and uncomfortable).  In the past couple of years I have gotten far more EF and am now wondering about my porta-potty system. 

So what happens to these wipes I throw in there?  And does anyone have more EF (yet realistic) suggestions?  Keep in mind I will be gone from home from Wednesday morning until Monday night, have no electricity and no running water and it is a festival of up to 80K folks.  TIA!

    Porta potties usually get sucked out by big poop-sucking trucks.  The poop-juice, pee, TP, and whatever else go to the sanitation district and are processed in the same fashion as the sewage that arrives via pipeline infrastructure. 

    I'm grossed out, just typing this.

    we go to similar festivals, so i know the port-o-pottie angst well. I practice chair pose (yoga) a lot before we go, and except when absolutely necessary, i just avoid sitting on the seat entirely. I successfully did this last year even while wearing DS in a backpack, and the previous summer, while 7 mo pregnant. I don't know about the "flushable" wipes - call a port-o-pottie company and ask! As for the seat wipedown when needed, maybe you could just carry a spray bottle of some EF cleanser, and wipe down with TP prior to use??

    These festivals are one of the times when we use Purell. I keep a little one in my pocket, but the one festival we go to (Shakori Hills) also has these ingenious hand washing stations made from repurposed materials.

    No having been to Bonnaroo myself, but knowing lots of people who have, I think I'd stick with your three baggie system.  You can always use recycled TP and Method or 7th Gen wipes to make you feel a little better, but I think your system is a smart one.

    i would only throw in things that are flushable.  so, tp and flushable wipes.  for cleaning, ditto pp about a mini spray bottle (but i'd totally use clorox clean-up or the like) and wipe down w/ tp.  or hover.

    I wouldn't put anything in a portapottie that you wouldn't put in your toilet at home. The waste all goes to the same sewage treatment plants like Glad said.

    If that grosses you out so much here's another thought for ya.....using a port-a-potty for 15 months and half of that being in 130* heat with them being cleaned out *maybe* every few days.  I could go on, but I don't wanna gross you out too much that you'll never speak to me again.
