  It sounds like you've tried everything.  We only had one really bad diaper rash and used the Aquafor/Maalox mixture and that really cleared things up.

  go to your pharmacist and ask for pure zinc oxide. mix it with lanolin (like you used BF). its what my mom uses on patients with bed sores.

  If it's open wounds I'd put some neosporin on it as well as let it air out w/ the underwear on.

  In the future I'd make sure that his bum is fully dry. I mean fully. Even if you have to use a blow dryer on it for a few seconds to get it dry. Than some vasoline as a barrier. Than be sure to change his diapers every 1-2 hours. If his skin is that sensative you've got to make sure that he is dry as much as possible. Also if you don't want to use the vasoline get some baby powder with corn starch. When DD had a rash like that we got a big bottle of that stuff & it has worked out great.

  I used caldescene powder on my oldest DD because she would also get bleeding diaper rash.  It has zinc oxide in it with talc and it helped.  The biggest thing was to keep her bottom dry.  I would have to watch her diapers and make sure to change it ASAP.  I hope your LO gets feeling better. GL

  DS has scars from a diaper rash like that.  What finally worked was moving to a cloth/disposable diaper combo.  I got g-diapers and cloth inserts and DS wore those during the day.  He still wore his overnight diapers at night.  It still took close to a month for the entire thing to completely heal.

  ETA:  He didn't have another rash until he outgrew that size of g-diapers and we switched back to disposables.  Kind of wish I'd just moved him up a size, but now we're thinking of potty training soon, so I don't want to spend the money...

  Put towels down in his bed and allow him to sleep without a diaper to maxmize time without a diaper.?? Someone suggested that to me. We have only had one really bad diaper rash and a prescription that did work for us. In the meantime I just let him run around with no diaper on (or underwear) all day. (He does use the "big boy potty" some...so that did help.) If you can get outside and let him run around with no diaper then it doesn't matter if he has any "accidents." The neighbors might look at your funny, but ??

  no prescription. they have to order it b/c they dont keep it in stock. they can order lanolin for you cheaper too. all totaled costs about $4

  weve been here trust me i know its awful.

   

  we had to switch to cloth diapers.  its the ONLY thing that worked and it worked like a charm.  2 days and it was GONE.  ditto the no disposable wipes either only warm wet wash clothes with baby wash.

  My DS had the same thing and my pedi recommended using neosporin and lotramin together on the rash.  I did that for a few days and it cleared up pretty well although I still think there is something causing it that we haven't figured out yet because it came back.  But it does work for us.

   You can buy triple paste, which has lanolin, zinc oxide and petrolatum in it.  We wash his butt in the tub when it's really bad so that we won't have to use wipes.
