Hi All- I thought I'd try over here too:
I'm hosting Easter brunch on Sunday. My DH was recently diagnosed with an egg allergy- so I'm at a loss of what to make. We have a family of vegetarians (not vegan- so they still eat butter/milk/eggs) and a family of meat eaters and then my DH who can't have eggs. So far all I can think of is fruit! I was thinking of making a few dishes, but would love to have a coffee cake or a buckle of sorts that does not use eggs, but still uses milk/butter. It's hard to find recipes that exclude eggs, but keep the other yummy stuff! TIA!
Re: NBR: Egg Allergy Recipes RP from 12-24 board
My family relies a lot on the cookbook Bakin' Without Eggs (like bacon w/out eggs, haha) since my nephew is severely egg allergic. You are right, most recipes that sub out the egg also do not include dairy. It just seems to go together for whatever reason.
I make a fruit crumble that is egg free - it is the strawberry/rhubarb crumble from Smitten Kitchen. I actually have one in the oven right now (with blackberries instead of rhubarb). Delicious! Any sort of apple crumble/brown betty/etc. should work as well for egg free.
My mom makes some sort of danish that is egg free as well; it has raspberry jam and cream cheese in the middle I think. I'll see if I can get the recipe for that.
As for other meals - we eat pretty regular entrees, you just have to check things like pasta for eggs.
