I felt like I was depriving DS

My parents were up this weekend, and DS & his grandparents hit it off - he particularly was enamored with Nana, who helped him to play on her computer (he's a word processing GENIUS - he does things with Word that none of us can figure out... yes, we know we're asking for trouble).  Well, this evening, when we went for a walk, he kept pointing at houses and saying "Nana?"  Now, slightly debatable whether he was saying Nana or our neighbor's name, which he says like Nana, but it sounded like the former.

Then, when he heard my mom's voice on the voice message she left while we were out, his face lit up.  We called her back, and he got rather upset when the call ended before we could say goodbye - so we called back one last time.  It's one of the few times when I really have felt like we're taking something away from DS by being so far from family.  :(  Boo...

  • Awww that's tough. It's one of the things I'm dreading most when we move this summer.

  • Awww...thats really tough.  The time that they do get to spend together will be extra special though!

  • DD is the same way about her Momo and Papa (the ILs).  We don't talk to my family enough apparently!

  • This was one of the hardest parts of deciding to move to Germany.  My parents adore DS and he adores them.  And DH and I are both close to them.  Thankfully, we can talk on Skype with video a lot and they are coming to visit in August.

  • Aww, poor guy.  But it definitely will make their time together more special.

  • Thanks, gals.  We just set up skype, so we'll be doing that!  He woke up today and after getting his hands on my phone asked to call Nana.  Still feel a bit bad about them not being able to spend more time together, but would prefer he misses them a bit than not feel attached to them.  We'll just have to arrange a bit more family time!
